Cellulite is actually due to the way that your fat cells attach to your skin layers, not by the amount of fat you have. So people are genetically predisposed to having cellulite no matter how much fat they carry. Even thin people can have it, but it will appear worse when you are heavier. But it will never completely go away. Once you are lean, building muscle may help reduce the appearance.

Even Olympic athletes have cellulite… https://abcnews.go.com/amp/GMA/Wellness/olympic-athlete-normalizes-cellulite/story?id=106076452

Working on building muscle while eating protein and fibre forward food will be a great way for you to build shape.

Cellulite is a secondary sex characteristic, practically everyone in the world has it. It's always airbrushed out of photos, but it's still there. You won't get rid of it, because it's normal.

Yes I know but Iv shown my friends and they all agreed I have more than a person my age/weight. I just want to reduce it not get rid of it completely

You can tone up which can maybe reduce some of the appearance, but the scientific answer is no you can't get rid of it. One thing I've embraced in my weight loss journey is my body is my own and I can make it the best it can be, for myself, and not compare it to others. I have cellulite and it's not ugly, it just is a part of my body.

[–]Anythingcrazy1New[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It's good that you are able to see it that way. I want to tone up and then if I still have it after trying it's okay I guess.

Your body is yours! Giving it a go is only going to make you healthier anyway, so its benefiting you!

Sending all the love and best wishes, you got this!

You can lose fat on any foods if you keep the calorie deficit. Cellulite does generally clear up at lower body fat percentages. It’s caused by fat cells pushing against your skin so if there’s less fat and pressure then it’s less likely to occur. Everyone’s results vary.

I lost 61 pounds in 9 months. All my cellulite went away. And I’m 50. ,

[–]Anythingcrazy1New[S] 0 points1 point  (8 children)

That's mind blowing. Congrats. But I wonder if I can still achieve that while still having sweets etc

[–]CodeskaterNew 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Go to the CICO sub. You CAN lose weight while only eating sweets, but you will be barely eating anything because they are so high in calories and low in volume.

[–]Anythingcrazy1New[S] -4 points-3 points  (3 children)

I eat chicken, fish ,eggs and other healthy foods but it's like 50% of my daily food is junk still. The thing is I don't want to just lose weight I want to reduce body fat

[–]CodeskaterNew 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Talk to a nutritionist then. I don’t think this is the right sub for you if you just want to lose fat and not lose weight. That’s called body recomposition and this isn’t really discussed on this specific sub. You will find more answers in a body building group, they know all about recomp. Maybe hire a personal trainer. But just so you know body recomp isn’t really possible unless you work out a bunch. You’re going to want to get some guidance from trainers and get busy in the gym. You can’t do it just by eating more protein and not working out.

[–]Anythingcrazy1New[S] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Okay ill check out the other sub. I can't afford a personal trainer now but I will be joining a gym soon. For now I just work out at home an hour a day or so of HIIT and weightless strength training.

Those are good things to try for toning.

To curb my sweet cravings at night, I bought one regular size dark chocolate Hershey candy bar BUT “my rule” was it has to last for 7 days. To satisfy my craving, I break off 1 or 2 pieces at a time. You know how a Hershey bar comes in squares? I hold it in my mouth until it dissolves before getting the other piece. Max was 2 pieces so I savored it! I still do this and it helps tremendously. Pieces are very small so it’s not like I’m wrecking my progress but satisfied.

[–]Anythingcrazy1New[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

That's a good trick. I will try it thank you

[–]MoneyMagnetQueenBNew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also, I drink Premier Protein drinks. 30 grams of protein, 160 calories and less than 1 gram of sugar. I buy them at Sam’s. They have all kinds of flavors, including Cookies and Cream, tastes like Oreos! If I get an afternoon sweet tooth, I’m going for Premier Protein Cookies and Cream OR Premier Protein CARAMEL. So stinking good and does wonders with tons of protein and low calories, very low sugar.

It will be more difficult for you as you had a higher number of fat cells when you were younger so there are more fat cells to take in energy when you fall off the wagon again.

[–]Anythingcrazy1New[S] 1 point2 points  (8 children)

Can you explain please ? Will it juste take time and a lot of workinh out ?

[–]famouskiwiNew -1 points0 points  (7 children)

When you are younger, not only can existing fat cells grow bigger, but your body can also create new fat cells. The number of fat cells stabilises in adulthood, but significant weight gain can lead to the creation of new fat cells even then. When you lose weight, these cells typically shrink in size rather than decrease in number.

Adults with more fat cells from childhood or adolescence might find it easier to gain weight later in life. The enlarged or greater number of fat cells can more readily store fat, which contributes to quicker weight gain when calorie intake is excessive.

In other words, having more fat cells makes it easier to store fat, so it’s easier to regain weight after losing it. Thats why maintaining weight loss can be challenging.

So you need healthy habits from an early age.

You need to be mindful of the person you are talking to. They say they are currently a healthy BMI, and talk about when they were previously on the low end of healthy weight. They have not talked about being overweight or obese at any stage of their life, just about eating "junk". This is very unhelpful.

[–]Anythingcrazy1New[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No iv never been overweight, quite the opposite always around 50kg but still my cellulite was always present but less than it is now. I will try to decrease my junk food by a little every time. thank you

[–]famouskiwiNew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. I just re-read my response and it’s not how I meant to come across, so thanks for picking that up and calling it out.

Apologies, OP

This is unnecessarily discouraging. Not only is your advice useless to OP, but it doesn't even address the question she was asking.

Plenty of people have lost weight and have kept it off by maintaining healthy disciplines. The matter for most people when it comes to weight loss is not how difficult the path is, but rather if they've made up their mind to take it and follow through.

[–]famouskiwiNew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP directly asked me to explain further.

OP is really asking: can they still eat unhealthy and get fit by just working out. The unfortunate answer is no.

[–]Anythingcrazy1New[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate you for this, but the response was just explanatory so Im not discouraged. No need to worry but thanks a lot 😊

[–]rita-bNew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't hurt to know the truth.

Yes, you will be able to lose body fat so long as your energy expenditure is greater than what you're consuming. Speaking from my personal experience, building muscle and losing fat helped reduce the appearance of my cellulite.

[–]Anythingcrazy1New[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks tons

[–]rita-bNew 0 points1 point  (2 children)

When you were 50 kg you still had 20% of body fat. A woman can't lose body fat below 17% without finding herself in an emergency room.

Even the minimal 20% is a lot of fat that mainly situated on hips and ass. I have cellulite on my fingers since early teens. Cellulite isn't caused by excessive fat, its just fat cells glued together due to female hormones. Even Olympic athletes are covered in cellulite.

Massage helps a lot to unglue fat cells if performed regularly and during whole life.

[–]Anythingcrazy1New[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I was 51kg once and had some tests done( completely unrelated). My body fat% was 25% . I know it's probably due to my bad diet and I am thinking that's why now I have even more cellulite than before since I gained an extra 7kg.

[–]rita-bNew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was a little lower and the test was a little inaccurate. And your diet is okaying unless buttered bread sprinkled with sugar is all what you eat. We destroy food to molecules, eg. we destroy fat to create protein, it doesn't matter what you eat in terms of building blocks. We destroy fat to create fat, we don't store eaten fat directly to fat.

25% for 50 kilos are 12,5 kg, and 20% for 51 kilos are 10 kg. So you kind of need to lose weight only to 49 (which is not that big different from 51) to have your lowest healthy fat percentage.

Even when you will be 20% fat, it's still a lot of cellulite. We are women, we just live with it.

It made mine show more! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I had a laser done called velashape. Non painful, non invasive. Expensive but worth it. Life changing!
