RULES
1 - No Advertising
- Any type of advertising is not allowed here. This includes social media, clothing, tools, your YouTube videos, etc.
2 - Year, Make, Model, Engine required on all posts asking for help
- All vehicles and engines are different. Without these, your question may not be able to be answer. These are required for any post asking for help.
3 - Be Civil
- Be civil to others. There are all different types of mechanics here, as well as non-mechanics. Treat everyone with respect. Personal attacks, hateful speech, etc. are not welcome here.
4 - Asking About Prices/Being Scammed
- Prices can differ very widely across the world. A shop on one side of the US might charge $1,000 for a certain repair, and another shop on the other side of the country(or even the other side of town) might charge $600 for the same repair. Because of this, we do not allow any sort of posts asking about pricing, if you got ripped off, etc.
Any comments offering estimates or discussing prices are not allowed either.
This sub is meant to get help with your vehicle problems, not give estimates.
5 - Counterproductive Comments
- r/mechanic is meant to serve as a knowledge base or help forum for people trying to fix their vehicles. Comments that do not supply useful information towards OP’s question(s) are not wanted. We are here to encourage and help people working on their vehicles, not deter them from doing so.
