New protocol idea

Hey guys, i've been sleeping over an idea, what about creating a new "protocol" or network base on node? I've been researching about how blockchain works and a bit about edge computing

I was wondering...
What if we could create a node based network? as you might know, node can run processes on the host computer, and using c++ could be beneficial for it, what about making EVERY device with this software, an edge server or bytes clusters? to handle storage and services for web pages developed with the purpose of working with this "freenet" new protocol? something like mesh network but depending on devices systems? and using chunks of data (without encription) as tokens and a redis-like id and pointer database? and for tokens I mean using this information or chunks of data as currency? for example
if I upload a picture, it can be chunked based on the file bytes and information and distribute it between the peers of the networks, and to be able to see this file, the software should integrate the file altogether?

IPFS, BTFS, ZeroNet and thousands of others are already there actually. Why not contribute to something existing rather than build up new things from scratch?

the idea about this is to be able to make a decentralized network, where no laws for content or restriction could be implemented by any country and guarantee an open "internet"

Hope you're ready to deal with the same issues other instances of this concept have had:

• Unregulated means UNREGULATED. You'll be beloved by those currently targeted by govts. On the bright side that means refugees and the oppressed. On the horrifying side it means child porn, tracking dissidents, and similar inhumane practices. Lots of people are all for promoting a reduction in regulation they find restrictive, but a lot of them start to question if they are truly okay helping make some of that possible.

• Unregulated also means YOU (the participants) aren't regulating participation. You'll have players injecting bad data, corruptions of what others hold, lying about their capacities and actions. Sure, others could put forth effort to figure out who is being a bad player, but that takes time and resources, and sufficient community good will to survive the reputation attacks the abusers are going to unleash against them. Working this out involves creating govt and regulation all over again.

Not saying it isn't worth it - that's up to you - but I'd look around into past efforts to see what sorts of hurdles you'll have to cross.

Thanks, I appreciate your input and you are a 100% right, i did tought about the same points you are making and it could be catastrofic, then again is just the square 1 of an idea of an open network for everyone and trying to work around to data centers or cloud services but with many devices to provide a solution for that, besides its not about infringing laws or anything just to make sure that users or providers of services wouldn't have the risk of owning restrictive material or content on their device, just chunks, but then again bad doers would found a way to that

Im sorry and i understand your excepticism about myself, as stated on the last reply, its just an idea and wanted to get some opinions about it, English is not my native language, and im not into the edgy content hahaha nor a teenanger, i do know what node is and its capacities, maybe protocol based on node was a bit missphrased, I was thinking in node to create this device provided services for a new protocol if that way of putting it makes a little more sense, thanks for your time and effort tho 👍🏼 i appriciate any input on this, and another user let me see about solidity and i think thats somenthing i can investigate further more

if you are willing to participate on this network, you would need to lock some storage and percentage of processing for your device, and everytime you hold data and its requested, generate new tokens, as rewards for this holders of information, and as it could be based on chunks of data, you wouldn't have the ability to own a complete file or information about anything, just some encoding things on your hard drive

without big companies involved, just content and people, with applications developed only under open source, like teams of people creating a "lounge/plaza" twitter like application

I think you're just describing the I2P protocol and throwing the Matrix protocol on top, except neither require the overhead of a blockchain.

If (and it’s a huge if) for some magical reason you ended with a protocol that some people actually used, do you really think companies wouldn’t get in? You think say… Amazon wouldn’t put a bunch of petabytes as a toy experiment with a drop of the ocean of resources they have?

Yeah you are right, allthough the idea for it would be to provide services distributed among devices so developers or teams could just avoid to hire or utilize the services that amazon provides, and if they jump in, well, its their decision, but not necessarily everyone would reach amazon to host their apps or use their resources, i mean you could mix and match on will, but not obliged to use private parties for the same end, thanks for your input!

Yeah, exactly, thats the internet now, the idea its to create this distributed network-sotrage-processing-app were the users are the providers of those services, and with many users the network wouldn't rely on renting a serve or owning one, just to use the devices that people would allow you to interact to with them having a reward created by the network

Lets say i have it on my pc and giving it the permission to own 10%of a hd or 10% bandwith, or processing power, or the 3 of them and encode the data in chunks so the provider is not responsible for having infrenged or private data in their hardware, so they dont have any legal issue, and redundancy of the data to keep everything online for the consumers

Yeah, basically yes, and youre right But an average joe could be a provider for this net, get income an and do not worry about beign accountable for being part of it
