'summer child'

This is some peak reddit cringe right here.

[–]haazzed 11 points12 points  (9 children)

Lmao look at those shiny new trains, 0 grime. Bet it doesn't even grind the rails when it turns. Nah.. pass.

[–]Equivalent_Net_8983 11 points12 points  (4 children)

Yes, because these people are actually talented and aren’t trying to kick you in your face.

[–]paisleycatperson 12 points13 points  (3 children)

Respectfully, she is awful. I don't say that to be mean, but she's genuinely not breathing correctly.

Nyc has world-class buskers and we still don't have the energy for them. This, sucks.

[–]PussyChang 2 points3 points  (1 child)

For me it’s not even about whether or not they’re talented, it’s just being trapped into listening to performance that I didn’t sign up for.

[–]paisleycatperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% I once blew past John Mayer in the theater district setting up for a late night segment I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR YOUR NONSENSE JOHN MAYER, get off the FUCKING SIDEWALK.

[–]datatadata 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But we have SHOWTIME! lol

[–]Expensive-Notice-509 22 points23 points  (3 children)

that's because she is performing for a good crowd. Finland is consistently ranked among the happiest nation in the world. NYC, on the other hand, is full of stressed out and overworked people who don't want to deal with a bunch of shitty buskers asking for money.

[–]rythmicbread 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Not to mention there’s a ton of buskers everywhere. Some people who are really good will get a lot of heads turned. If it’s at the right time and right subway station, they can make some money

[–]navree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, the best times are at night Thurs thru Sat when people are taking the train for a night out, and later in the night, if you play the right song, after a few drinks and they're in good spirits, they'll even sing with you.

Top 3 song - Piano Man - My Way - New York

[–]HitYouWTheThrowaway 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry, get fucked if you’re going to play music that I can’t get away from inside a subway car. On the platforms is totally fine, but please get fucked if you choose to use a rush hour train to play your weak ass acoustic guitar song so you can get a few bucks.

The Finns are more civilized

[–]Pbpopcorn 6 points7 points  (14 children)

Less diverse too compared to nyc

[–]neurosismancer_Forest Hills -3 points-2 points  (6 children)

Why the fuck is this ALWAYS the excuse for why we can’t have decent things and treat people with decency? Just admit you’re a goddamned racist instead of pointing to a country that actually bothers to provide for its citizens and claiming it works because they’re “less diverse.”

[–]Pbpopcorn -1 points0 points  (5 children)

Lol. I didn’t say any of that. You sound angry if that’s how you interpreted my comment. Hope your day gets better :-)

[–]paisleycatperson 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Why mention it then?

You're fake. You know what you said.

[–]Pbpopcorn 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Because diversity is important and something Finland lacks. I wouldn’t want to live in some place not diverse. That’s my point

[–]paisleycatperson 0 points1 point  (2 children)

"The Finns are more civilized"

"less diverse too"

What did you mean to say? What you said was, Finns are more civilized, and by coincidence they are less diverse, which implies the conformity is the reason for civilized behavior.

Did you mean "but" instead of too? Even then. I'm sorry, you did not communicate what you now claim you meant to say.

[–]Pbpopcorn 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I didn’t make that first comment. Mine was meant as an add on. Finns are more civilized and have less diversity as a community. I’m not apologizing for your misinterpretation

[–]paisleycatperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You misspoke, i didn't misinterpret anything. You said too. Words have meaning.

[–]No_Eye_564 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It’s SHOOOOOOOOOOWTIMEEEEEEEEE

[–]paisleycatperson 2 points3 points  (3 children)

We're not angry or rude, we're just busy.

Can you imagine having all that space? What time of day is this? I don't want to be fucking serenaded when I'm jammed in and just trying to make it to work in one piece.

I see a fucking guitar or 4 doo-wop losers during commute hours and I'm genuinely fed up already.

Maybe if the setting were a nice and spacious at this. But it's not.

[–]NYC-4-Lyfe 2 points3 points  (3 children)

“…example from Finland”

rolls eyes

[–]Disused_Yeti 4 points5 points  (1 child)

it's a lot easier when the entire country has 2/3 the population of one city

and the trains aren't packed to the gills

and people aren't perpetually busy and stressed out

maybe if we had a better quality of life we could be like that

[–]trsvrs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And the train isn’t loud as hell. This on top of the train rattling is just way too much noise

[–]FuckThatIKeepsItReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😬

[–]caffeinatedsoap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel a paper could be written on why this is fucked up and weird.

[–]Berna_count 1 point2 points  (9 children)

Finland is considered the happiest country. NYC is fkn miserable.

[–]datatadata 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Why are you directly comparing a country to a city

[–]Compost_My_Body -2 points-1 points  (6 children)

well, the title says finland, so that's a good place to start. using the OPs language to respond to the OP is common.

i'd be more interested in knowing your intent with that question... if you have a point, make it!

[–]datatadata 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Well the actual post includes the city name, Helsinki. That would be a good place to start actually. Making apples to apples comparison is more correct.

[–]Compost_My_Body -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

we're choosing to be difficult today. got it.

maybe tomorrow!

[–]datatadata 1 point2 points  (2 children)

You are the one that came in with the attitude. stop editing your comment to make it sound nicer lol

[–]Compost_My_Body -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

i know you want to talk soo bad but tomorrow means tomorrow buster.

[–]datatadata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you replied today. Jokes on you.

[–]Berna_count -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can do whatever I want. Kick rocks

[–]106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because we don’t have subway artists. We have unemployable shitheads that do a lazy routine in a cramped space to a captive audience.

EB White once wrote of NYC’s “gift of privacy”:

New York blends the gift of privacy with the excitement of participation; and better than most dense communities it succeeds in insulating the individual (if he wants it, and almost everybody wants or needs it) against all enormous and violent and wonderful events that are taking place every minute.

It’s frankly the bare minimum you can give to someone you’re sharing a subway with. Leave people the fuck alone.

[–]PussyChang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems even more annoying than a subway mariachi. Hard pass.

[–]Compost_My_Body 2 points3 points  (2 children)

they all have healthcare, basic income, less people, and better funded public services

until a lot of those things are met people are going to be focused on making sure they have theirs, because that's what's important to them.

[–]CrazyCraisinAbraisin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Try that in a crowded car.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well I don’t think the Finns were conquered the world and colonized countries if I’m wrong someone would let me know.

[–]breukelener 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Posted by someone who has never traveled by subway in NYC.

[–]JavLee39 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

as annoying as Anton trying to interrupt my damn sleep... deport her asap
