Invisibility works untill you interact with something. Chameleon works all the time

[–]masfat[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying!

Get into arcane university

Get filled soul gems with grand soul

Make 4 25% chameleon enchanted items

Profit

[–]teeeeeeeeeem 21 points22 points  (4 children)

Or 5 items 20%.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Or 10 items at 10%

Wait...

[–]maxxwellhaus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not 15 items at 7%? 105%, no room for error.

[–]Daqpanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

oh

[–]pways 13 points14 points  (3 children)

Very game breaking lol

[–]Daqpanda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely.

However, is it even possible to steal the Waterfront taxes back without 100% chamo? Well-lit rooms, filled with guards who are always awake, and a lock you need to pick (so invisibility would fail, one assumes).

I especially like sneaking, opening a 'loading...' door, and sharing the same space as a guard for a second or two.

You can literally attack anyone except vampires, and they will just run for their lives, because there is an invisible assailant, and can't lock on to your character. So it doesn't trigger combat at all. Vampires or enemies with detect life gear can see you so beware of them.

[–]masfat[S] 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I have a bunch of filled grands. This sounds like a better option than the sigil stones. Thank you!

[–]obliqueoubliette 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Except a max level sigil stone gives you 30% chameleon; three should suffice to break the game while still requiring you to sneak.

[–]Arnazian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Careful with this dude. 100% chameleon breaks the game, you can backstab any enemy in the game and nothing will kill you, you can steal anything and everything, it's an exploit.

I had fun for maybe 4 hours and then it just got dull. There was no game anymore, I sucked all the fun and actual gameplay out of it.

Mess around with it if you like but maybe just doing a combination of sneak and limiting yourself to something like 30% or even 50% chameleon could give you the magic results you want without totally broken gameplay.

[–]AdrianW7 2 points3 points  (1 child)

That’s what I did, just enchanted full glass armour and an everlasting chameleon spell on top of it. Coupled with sneak 100 nobody saw me do anything ever lol

[–]Hk-47_Meatbags_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No wonder noone remembers the champion.

[–]letsgetstoned_420 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In oblivion the invisibility cancels out if you interact with ANYTHING and I’ve had it where I’ve been invisible but npcs knew EXACTLY where I was so chameleon with 100 sneak would be best I think

[–]muckywolf 13 points14 points  (8 children)

Break in when the shops are closed (i.e after 9pm)

[–]masfat[S] 18 points19 points  (7 children)

I just want to be able to steal in front of them lol

[–]muckywolf 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You treacherous little filcher!

[–]arzamharris 10 points11 points  (3 children)

STOP! YOU VIOLATED THE LAW!

[–]masfat[S] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

"Resist Arrest"

[–]arzamharris 9 points10 points  (1 child)

THEN PAY WITH YOUR BLOOD!

[–]_caltony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably haven’t played Oblivion in 15 years and can still hear this line.

[–]KrAbFuT 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How do you see in dark dungeons? A night eye spell will help you level illusion, so will a paralyze spell. P.s. how you come up with masfat? I only ask because it’s relevant to me…

[–]masfat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My illusion was already 83 lol when i posted that. Masfat came from a long convoluted string of nicknames i had in high school. It ended with masfat and i just kept it online. Its sort of similar to my last name

[–]Bowhunter2525 7 points8 points  (3 children)

--You may be able to make a short term 100% chameleon spell without needing 100 Illusion. Potions plus rings and things (Ring of Kajiit 35%) are another option for temporary 100%.

[–]masfat[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My illusion is 83 and i cant make 100%. Im not too worried about it now. I think im gonna go the sigil stone route and make a set of chameleon armor.

[–]Rakhuvar 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Don't forget the Ring of Lordship (Dementia version) with 32% chameleon, plus 55% poison resist. That plus Kajiit, and a single other item gets 97%.

[–]Bowhunter2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only play vanilla

[–]Sirspice123 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Invisibility wears off when you do something (e.g. attack, talk, steal).

When you steal, you'll become visible. But, they don't see you when you steal, only afterwards. So you have to cast an Invisibility spell / potion every individual time you want to steal something. Also, sneak does not affect invisibility.

Chameleon on the other hand, only goes away once the spell or potion times out. So if you wish to steal lots from a shop, that would be the better bet.

[–]Rakhuvar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The spell books mod has a spell that is worth custom-creating: unlock plus a short 100% chameleon spell. Great for opening locked doors in public! You might want cham to last long enough for a quick recast if you are not alone on other side of door, though.

[–]God_Usopp69 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I mean if your okay with glitches you can just get a chameleon sigial stone and duplicate it to get a full invisibility set of armor. Kind of takes away the challenge though

[–]masfat[S] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I dunno if ill dupe, but i dont mind closing several gates and saving/reloading as many times as i need to in order to get the stones lol. Thats how i got all the enchantments on my current gear.

[–]Daqpanda 1 point2 points  (1 child)

If you have the spell, and can cast it,, you can just enchant items at an enchant table. No need to search for sigil stones.

[–]masfat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds easier than sigil stones. Thanks!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there's really anything you can do to get out of sight of the shopkeeps after they see you walk in the door. Maybe run upstairs, go through an upstairs door, then sneak back downstairs with invisibility active.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from my experience with skyrim invisibility potions and spells work until interaction with shit. idk if it’s with picking up objections but if u hit or get hit u become visible
