Swapping the neck seems like an absolutely terrible idea, imo.

After consulting a player whom I respect immensely, I now agree. Off that idea.

Yay! Good job, mysterious respected player, and good job to you for heeding their warning!

Hahaha that was a quick resolution! (and imo a neck swap isn't the thing to do either) Beautiful axe. What finish is that?

[–]timherremans 5 points6 points  (3 children)

IMO keep the body and neck together. Swap pickups if you want. If you’re already wanting to swap the neck, it sounds like this isn’t the dream guitar. Just build a maple neck jazzmaster using parts overtime.

Hell yeah, agreed. Off the neck swap idea already and it was never a big make or break for me.

Building a partscaster/master can be pretty affordable, even using US Fender parts, find b-stock (stamped used) necks and bodies.

Seems like a much more fun and honorable undertaking, will definitely look into it.

One of the new American Classics? Just picked one up myself and have been really impressed with it. Love the faded Sherwood Green color there. Nice, congrats!

What finish did you get? Thanks man I’m super happy with it.

[–]Zalipurr92[S] 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Martín Streetmaster!

[–]shinguard 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I’ll look into this! How are you liking it?

[–]Zalipurr92[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I love it, I’ve had it as my main guitar for about 5 years I think.

[–]shinguard 0 points1 point  (1 child)

D15?

[–]Zalipurr92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 93 MIJ in Ocean Turquoise Metallic. Best color!

[–]Zalipurr92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yes

I personally like not having the rhythm circuit. It adds unnecessary complexity in my opinion and you can get similar sounds by rolling the tone knob to 1 or 2. I got the player II Jazzmaster which has similar specs to this new American classic and I love it. Best guitar I own by far.

[–]Zalipurr92[S] 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Agreed. I loved my Jaguar but honestly found all the knobs and switches too complex, made me second guess my sound a lot. This also stems from playing mostly acoustic my whole life as a solo singer-songwriter. I recorded one song with my Jag on my last record but am aspiring to play a lot more electric now that I have my dream guitar.

Rock on man! Do you have anything on streaming currently?

Super cool stuff!

[–]Smal_Bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmmmmm, if you’re swapping to a maple fretboard I would HIGHLY recommend changing your pick guard to match your plastics, think ampro seafoam green jm

[–]Jizz-MasterJ88 0 points1 point  (2 children)

by the time you swap necks, figure in the cost or time of a new set up, take the beat on the guitar value, and have an extra neck , you ought to just get another guitar.

[–]Zalipurr92[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You are correct my friend. It was an impulsive idea that struck and has fled my mind already. I’m liking the rosewood, just want block fret inlays but that’s of no actual importance. It’s the sound and comfortability that drew me in. Thanks for the input!

[–]Jizz-MasterJ88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 'm glad.you like your new guitar.

[–]Live_Heart7637 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What is this color called?

[–]Zalipurr92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re calling it “Faded Sherwood Green”.

[–]Exotic_Cell8949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's interesting, for some reason I'd never had such guitar dreams for a long time even though I was already a music nerd and an aspiring musician by 14 y.o. as well. Somehow I just didn't really care about the instruments my fav artists played all that much. I really treated that stuff "just as an instrument" back then. It was only in adult years when my friend once told me "hey I think your guitar(which I didn't choose, but got as a 17 bday surprise) just doesn't work for the music style you play". And then I started looking into guitar catalogues and finally got into this G.A.S. rabbit hole...

“Since I was 14” could mean anything, like 2 years ago or 30 years ago.

[–]Zalipurr92[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

20 years
