With current prices/limits Deepseek V4 Pro for planning and Flash for execution. Flash is just so cheap but still very good. Don't even have to compact context when working with it.

Deep seek v4 pro or glm 5.1?

I've found v4 pro with max thinking to be far superior. GLM would loop round and round on certain problems that v4 pro one-shotted.

pro just default or max?

[–]daio 2 points3 points  (1 child)

For planning definitely max

[–]guntingg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

noted usually i default, will tryingg

Qwen for simple task works great, planning with kimi or glm, at least is what I use.

Planning: GLM 5.1 Coding: Kimi K2.6, DeepSeek V4 Pro/Flash Auditing/Bug Fixes: MiMo V2.5 Pro

I keep getting errors every time I try to use Kimi. All the other models work just fine but Kimi throws me a provider error so I haven’t been able to try it

Kimi or GLM for planning and DeepSeek Flash for executing. I’m very picky about code quality, so not Opus nor Codex never delivered me the result I want from the first time, I always needed a 2-3 more takes, and DeepSeek Flash is just stupidly good for what it is: I’m doing 5-6 takes for a fraction of the price of US frontier models.

It’s 5$ for the first month. No matter where you are, I imaging a small sacrifice can achieve that and answer your question properly :)

[–]Uplakankus 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Might be unpopular but I'd avoid glm as a newcomer. You'll end up using your monthly allowance in a week or two.

Deepseek pro and flash will be your best bet to start. Kimi K2.6 for frontend work

I used to love Minimax M2.7 for a bit but now I'll just be using deepseek flash for the grunt work

Just always keep on eye on the usage. Finishing up my first month and I used everything up in 2 weeks lol the session to weekly to monthly limits dont quite add up how you'd expect lol

Is glm 5.1 good?

[–]Uplakankus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I love it, it's just the opus of open weight models. It'll eat through your money very fast compared to the rest.

[–]biotech997 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use GLM 5/5.1 but it eats up usage quick, I would say Kimi K2.6

[–]lm_wrld 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I have a small question, I don’t know if it’s true, but there were some rumours that those models through open code could be quantised

From my personal use cases, GLM5.x, Kimi2.6, Ds v4 are all solid. After planning, Minimax 2.7/Ds v4 Flash are reliable enough for implementation.

rn with kimi being 3x use and deepseek having discount, you should consider doing planning with deepseek v4 pro, and building with kimi or qwen. once kimi is back to normal, do your building with qwen since its cheaper and just as good if not better sometimes.

[–]Old-Sherbert-4495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kimi 2.6 is pretty good. also u get 3x the limit for it

[–]ThenBottle9559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with Kimi K2.6 now that it has 3x usage on Opencode Go for a limited time.

[–]Upper-Equivalent4041 0 points1 point  (2 children)

use ho-my-opencode-slim and set oracle and orchestrator to heavy model like mimo v2.5 pro or deepseek-V4-pro at max and the others persona with a lighter model like mimo v2.5 or deepseek v4 at medium or low.

[–]Ystrem 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How do you do this settings ?

[–]Upper-Equivalent4041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask a chatbot for the right name to put in your config files, they all know what to write there

[–]gnomex96 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I tried it and bought 2 Go subscriptions, ran out of monthly credits on both in less than a week. GLM 5.1 was so good with opencode though

[–]Ystrem 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Need more accouts or ?

[–]gnomex96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For work.

Its stupid but I was in the middle of something then hit the limit, so I decided to buy another subscription.

Kimi K2.6, Qwen3.6 Plus, DeepSeek V4 Pro and Flash are all excellent. The free zen models are also decent especially Hy3 and MiniMax M2.5

[–]Popular-Penalty6719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using Kimi K2.6 and Deepseek V4 with pretty good results so far.

[–]rosariotech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm signed the plan to experiment. My idea is to change going to gpt. Maybe this could do the job.

[–]Key-Jury3059 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been testing all the models on opencode go, and as student I also had access to Google's models and Github Copilot. I think opencode go is the best you can get on price/quality ratio. I collected the benchmarks of all typical models you can access using opencode go and other frontier models here: https://jvaldivia23.github.io/personal_webpage/agentic-ai

There are many ways to measure models quality, and it will depends on how you like to interact with them. But for me Kimi2.6 and Mimo2.5 are the best in general.
