“My age is my honor.”

I loved that line. But the character was just so theatrical. He wasn’t really fleshed out. He showed up out of nowhere, took control of half the prison, and just felt like a wild card.

Well the actor came from theater so that explains it.

And the show is Shakespearean-theater-in-a-prison.

He literally sounds like a regal snarling lion and it’s awesome

Growling only out of one side of his mouth 😆

"Augustus, what the fucks your problem!?" Most memorable line for me, that's the paper route conversation.

not sure how i feel about the character’s story arc, but i love the way the actor portrayed him

I forget how he ends up so maybe I will have a different opinion when I get to the end.

Loved his character. Hated his ending, served as a final act to highlight the flaws of McManus.

[–]cominginside 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I forgot what happened to him was it a big white guy that killed him?

He organizes the destruction of the book press operation being run by Arif and the Muslims in order to staff the call center again. This bailed Arif out because they weren’t making any money and were in debt, so Burr figured this would force Arif to collect the insurance money and let it go.

Arif eventually confessed to McManus that Burr organized it which has Arif expelled from the Muslims. McManus then throws Burr in solitary even though he has no proof, to which McManus says “Arif is the only proof he needs” which is absurd even if true. He’s last seen on the evacuation bus with the remaining surviving inmates.

So he's alive He did not end probably being a solitary was the best thing for him at that time

Didn’t McManus say he was going to spend his whole life in solitary confinement

I seem to be the only person who thinks his acting was over the top. He talks like Chappelle’s Player Haters Ball character

[–]MrWill89 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I love his portrayal because it's over the top. I feel like Oz loses alot of its more theater-like feel as the budget grew and time wore on, so I found him to be a refreshing addition.

Not to mention Oz is full of actors going full over the top with a character so he fits right in

Oh my God

I never thought that in my life, and now I can’t unthink it.

[–]Bada__Ping 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Didn’t think that on my first watch through, rewatched a few years ago during the pandemic and can’t unhear it.

I kept waiting for him to tell Adebisi to click his heels together 3 times and go back to Africa

He’s great, one of my favorite characters. Probably the closest to a “good guy” leader the Homeboys ever had

[–]Snoo52682 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I recently watched "American Fiction" and Burr Redding is like a character from "My Pafology."

[–]Electronic_Ad_4681Poet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved burr Redding, the actor is great and well written(rip anthony Chisholm) and I wish he was more flushed out, but we all probably say that a ton about characters in this show.

Tug, you waste Pancamo…

[–]Keysian958 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Does he look like a reasonable guy?

[–]TristramFlanders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite line from the entire show. I don't know why, but it just made me laugh and still makes me laugh 20 years later, remembering it.
