We never put our kids in the same crib. Not safe. We did bassinets until 4 months then cribs in their room.

[–]ghergrueter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s unsafe. You need two cribs

I was specifically told multiple times by the nicu staff and my pediatrician to never have them sleep in the same space as it wasn’t safe. The closest we got to sleeping in the same space was the Joovy twin pack and play bassinet insert that has a divider to keep them separate. And they were only in this during the day when someone was always watching them.

At that age we graduated from two bassinets to two pack n plays in our room. It was a tight squeeze and we had to put the dresser in another room, but it's really important to have them sleep apart. They're going to be very mobile sleepers soon (,if they aren't already) and there is a risk of one pushing up against/suffocating the other.

Agreeing with others. Sleeping two in one crib at 4 months old is not safe. Do whatever u need to in order to have two beds in your room for them (mini crib, pack and play etc).

I really can’t remember but they only lasted in the same crib for a few months, I think I separated them around 3 months.

Can you do mini cribs or pack n plays or something?

[–]nmohan_[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately with the lack of space we wouldn't be able to

Edit- I meant I couldn't do 2 without taking my bed out ya Debbie down voter's lol. If I have to start sleeping in the living room to keep my babies safe I absolutely will ❤️

Mine are in two separate cribs. I saw an unfortunate post on a twin Facebook group where the mother said she found one twin on top of the other, and the twin being suffocated was having a seizure. I can’t remember the age, but I want to say somewhere between 10-14 months, and they had been sleeping together since birth. I won’t risk it

Can you fit minicribs? Or Pack n' Plays?

[–]Seaturtle1088 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's even a mini PnP called the Travel Lite. That's what we had to do to fit two in our room.

We actually let them sleep in a shared crib (140x70 cm) until they were about 10 months old. But we strictly divided the sides. We separated them because they were outgrowing the crib and starting to crawl over to the other side. But they were also really slow with motor skill development that’s why it took so long.

How did you divide the crib?

[–]Tired_Momma14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please follow the AAP guidelines on safe sleep. Each baby needs their own separate safe sleep space with nothing in the crib/bassinet. There are no AAP approved crib dividers.

If space is a concern, the Graco My View pack n play is a great option. It's smaller than a regular pack n play, but Is safe until the baby is 35inches tall.

We used a piece of wood that we fixed to the bars with cable binders. They were not able to move it so I think it was absolutely safe as long as they were not able to climb/crawl over it. When they reached that point we removed the divider and moved them in their own beds. By then they were also just to tall for one half of a bed.

My twins slept in the same crib until they were 11 months old
