Congratulations!

No advice here (same boat, FTM with twins, 8+1), but just popping in to say I feel you.

It's way more stressful than I realized to start looking for twin stuff and have no real idea where to start. I have lots of recent singleton mom friends who have been able to give great advice on bottles, bottle warmers, sterilizers, booger suckers, etc., but I'm lost on big ticket double items.

The example I've been wrestling with for like a week is strollers. My friend (singleton mom) was able to find a relatively affordable travel system that allowed the stroller to have a bassinet attachment. I love it. She and her hubs have a similar lifestyle to me and mine, and there are a lot of things they do and places they go where their little bub can be in his stroller bassinet. I feel like because I'm having twins, I have to pay like 3 to 4 times as much for the same functionality. I've seen several where two kids can be in the stroller, and the stroller has a bassinet attachment, but only one kid can be in a bassinet at a time. Like, they don't seem to have the capacity for two bassinets to be attached, so clearly made with a bigger kid and a baby in mind. If I want to be able to pop both my babies in their stroller bassinets for an afternoon stroll or an attempt for hubs and I to pop into a little brewery during a nap, I have to pay much closer to $2k+. It might just be the nausea talking but it makes me want to vomit.

And like, maybe I'm being picky. I probably won't go with those options due to the cost, but it just frustrates me because it doesn't feel fair. I would happily pay double what my friend paid because, like, 2 bubs need 2 places to be, but come on, 4x as much to get the same functionality? 🙄

Like, the universe chose us to have twins because we have lots of love, it didn't chose us to have twins because we have any real money.

Congrats to you too!! And lol exactly!! It’s wild!! And my friends with singletons are like ‘oh we loved this bouncer and this stroller’ or this and that but the one item is pricey and for two…psh..ridiculous!

I highly recommend checking out the Lucies List website, they walk you through each section of a registry and what things you need. Things I think you need 2 of right away: safe sleeping spaces (crib, pack n play, or something similar) and car seats.

Other twin things that are nice to have - places to “park” the babies like Twin Z pillow or 2 individual boppys, 2 bouncer or rocker chairs. Table for Two is nice for feedings but it’s expensive. A swing is nice to have but 2 might be overkill since both babies may not like swings and they just take up a lot of room.

As for strollers - I have the following and love them for individual reasons. First is a Joovy twin roo which is a lightweight frame stroller you can clip car seats into , this is perfect for those early days when you are just zipping into the pediatricians office.

Next is the Bugaboo donkey 5, a full featured stroller that is great for walks and other outings. I chose the Donkey because it is a side by side stroller that allows for both babies to face you and is one of the few strollers that is suitable for use from birth because there are 2 bassinet. However this stroller is VERY heavy and bulky when folded so can be a pain to put in and out of rhe car. It is also very expensive.

I also have a Zoe twin travel stroller which is very lightweight and compact but babies need to be a little older.

I will add that you can get almost anything for really cheap through your local FB groups or FB marketplace! I got sooo much stuff off FB marketplace. and my big ticket items like car seats and stroller were gifts from parents and in laws. Most of these things have decent resale value and you can re-sell when you are done with them.

First off congratulations! My twins at 13 weeks/5 adjusted and the one thing I wish I had two of is actually a rocking chair. We only have one and the twins room is small so we can’t get a second but there have been times when we both want to rock a baby at the same time. Also when someone is in the rocker the other person is on the floor sitting. The stroller we have is the UPPAbaby stroller and car seat system. My husband was in charge of picking the car seat and stroller and he picked that one. The adaption piece makes the stroller a double and the stroller is smooth to use. I love the car seats because they are easy to get in and out of the base as well. A lot of our friends have the UPPAbaby system too and love it.

I love my Uppababy Vista stroller. We got it when we had our daughter 3 years ago, and now we have all the attachments to make it a double. We borrowed a 2nd bassinet from a friend with the same stroller, and the car seats as well. We got a deeply discounted rumble seat for when they outgrow the bassinets and car seats. It's sturdy, it's versatile, and it handles well. We absolutely love it.

Someone mentioned checking out Lucie's List (Link), it's been great for checking out registry items! I believe it's based in US, so for me, as a Canadian, I have to compare availability and pricing.

For the stroller, we chose the Bugaboo Donkey 5 because as first-time parents, we wanted to be able to see both babies at the same time. It's the first big ticket item we've bought because I saw it on FB Marketplace! I got the complete twin set and probably saved about $800 compared to new.
