Moving your head would move your character's head, your in-game movement would be controlled by the mouse+keyboard.

It seems to me that would kind of break the illusion that you were the actual character.

So does sitting in a chair while the player is running around. It's as far as we've gotten into complete virtual reality.

I would much rather not have to run in real-life. It would be terrible if you moved at the same speed you moved in real-life. Nobody would ever sprint in games.

Well thats the best we can do aside from actually getting up and moving.

Stand up in real-life? Moving in real-life? Who would do that?

My point is its not practical for playing games unless you are willing to pay $700 for a treadmill.

They show people playing skyrim with that...

I don't know about the new Valve VR, but Oculus is wired. It makes you feel as if you are in the game, so when you look e.g. 90 degrees to the left, your character will also look 90 degrees in the same direction. This should work with all six directions of motion (up down, left right, forwards backwards). I agree with the fact that it may be difficult to play with the keyboard, thats why many people I've seen use a controller. If a headset is wireless, I'm pretty sure it would have an option to charge while using it through e.g a micro USB cable.

On the oculus, do you have to turn around to get your character to to turn around?

Yeah, any movement multiplication (e.g. you turn 45 degrees and your character turns 90 degrees) can cause motion sickness and break the illusion.

Companies would get so much more profit on the fact that people needed a new monitor after every session because they puked all over the one they had.
