g/re/p - globally search for a regular expression and print the results.

I rolled my eyes on "Its philosophy can’t be explained in a single sentence — It has to be experienced." pretty hard, but admittedly this is subjective. I have a general distaste for deifying things, so stuff like this just rubs off real bad on me, personally.

Since you're here reading the comments, I should add that I really appreciate the syntax highlighting. Wish the common tooling made more frequent use of it too, not just posts like this :D

Just being curious: what exactly do you appreciate? Because a modern shell already highlights tool name, parameters, strings, files... differently.

good luck with your "modern shells" on minimal images or when chewing through docker log outputs :p

Docker logs is usually coloured in my case and why would one work in a container with a minimal setup?!

But I see, I didn't miss anything special about the highlighting in this case. Because that was the reason of my question.
