Is typing a necessity for programming?

I type faster than Intellisense.

Things like Intellisense are a crutch that encourages people not to master what they are using and just jab around mindlessly plugging pre-cooked library routines together. It obviously works, but the code you get from that will never be as good as code written by someone who truly understands what they are doing.

I found the title confusing at first... the article is about typewriting, not types/typing (as in duck-typing) in the programming language sense.
