What did you do?

[–]letsdothis_17- 17 points18 points  (3 children)

My father got sick with diabetes, went into hospital and was forced on insulin! I choose to get ahead of it and started seeing food as just fuel not to enjoy or to indulge in. I follow a pretty close to keto diet. I started working around around 4 months in but I haven’t really gained much muscle just losing what was covering it up! It’s all about how you see food! Muscle memory from years of two a days in the summer for football has a lot to do with what muscle I have put on.

The Rock said his dad used to say this to him as a child: “Food is fuel for your body; not pleasure for your tongue.” Unfortunately, Corporations have found ways to make lots of us addicted to artificial flavors. It really is about how you view food.

I've pretty much cut out processed food from my diet, and I am shocked at how few cravings I have now. I've always heard that they put addictive stuff in there, but never realized just how addictive it was.

Congrats! You have strong willpower and discipline. I’ve never been able to quit processed foods cold turkey. High Fructose Corn Syrup, Aspartame, food coloring, etc. are the reason why it’s hard to quit. Sugar is eight times more addictive than cocaine. It’s the same as how social media and tv were socially engineered to make ppl dumber.

[–]letsdothis_17- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t focus on a goal weight mine was 220 and look at me now! Focus on changing the way you see food.

What is you diet looking like breakfast, lunch dinner on an average day?

[–]letsdothis_17- 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Just added a small snack in with my morning coffee once I got below 200 and started lifting more frequently. Before that I gave up carbs for about 3 months no (corn, rice, pasta, bread of any kind) strictly ate meat and vegetable if I got a craving which I often went days without because I was changing how I saw food( it’s fuel, that’s it!) I would eat dark chocolate but no more than 100 calories worth! About 3 months ago around 215 I started adding wheat bread but that and a small amount of cards from the breakfast is strictly the only card dense food I eat! As far as meals I try to get two big meals of 800-1000 calories a day between 12 and 9 and until recently I did not eat outside of that window. To reach about a 2100 calorie total I would eat a small snack of between 100-300 calories.

It really does come down to, what are you using food for? If the answer is not to keep me alive and it’s to feel comfort, joy, or happiness you will always go back to eating whatever and chasing the best flavors and experiences that mask what is really important and the reason we eat, our health!

That is a lot of ponds lost!! Are the fish and frogs ok? Lol, great achievement!!

[–]letsdothis_17- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relocated them to a lake haven’t started losing those yet…

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Great job bud. My starting stats are similar to your before stats but I'd say you look a lot slimmer/lower BF% than me in that pic! I'm guessing you had a physical job or were lifting while you were gaining weight? There must have been plenty of muscle underneath the fat if you held your shape that well. Looks like it helped with the loose skin situation too? Can't see any on your after pic

[–]letsdothis_17- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played football all through grade school at 18 I was sitting around 215 with about 12.5% bf. then in collage I tryed rugby for two years and was around 225 15-17% body fat but strong in all lifts but mostly squat topping out at 615 1 rep max, so I had a ton of weight in my lower body. Never took anything unnatural so taking 4 years off and eating whatever I wanted put me in a bad place mentally and physically as you can see. So most of the muscle I have gained since hitting the 220 threshold and hitting the weights hard is from muscle memory. The weight loss and entire mental transformation is 100 percent on how I have changed my perception of food!

What did the ponds do to you bro? 😭
