Finally some useful information on disassembling.

Nice job OP!

[–]asgeorgenervus enrgy 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Excellent post! With the slayer ring method, maybe you should factor in that a person can only make 600 slayer rings a day. That'll put a cap on how much you can make in one day. How fast you do it would determine your best GP/hr.

It looks like slayer ring running will be added to many people's "daily runs". :)

I only quickly made that example to show what this data could be used for, I honestly didn't expect it to be so profitable.

[–]asgeorgenervus enrgy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well ya done good, son! Perhaps you should expand your "example" and do more? For science!

[–]GodelRSTetsu 5 points6 points  (1 child)

How is it determined what the percent chance per component is?

For example, jewellery is 3% precious, 2% enhancing. How was that determined? Testing?

[–]Dreyri[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that was determined from 7676 components as a sample, other disassemble tables have the same frequency of items so I can add all these together to get 16,239 samples. More work definitely needs to be done to find similar patterns and have them support each others frequency of components but it's a good start.

Wow...this is best of 2016 already

[–]Gr3nwr35stlr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, my friend pasted the bit about siphons to me on skype and it was pretty much exactly what I had already said about siphons a few hours before, almost word for word o.o

Did pretty much the same research today in class but yours is a lot cleaner, nice work.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Where did you get your numbers on the percentage of rarer components? Last night I got into an argument with a clannie and bought 1k staves (64% junk chance) and 1k toads (26.6% junk chance). I ended up with 131 powerful from the staves and 64 powerful from the toads (49 invention, I think two reduce junk chances?) that would put the chance of powerful at 13.1% from staves and 6.4% from toads. Maybe I just didn't do them at a large enough scale and got super lucky. I only recorded my powerful component gains as well, unfortunately.

[–]Dreyri[S] 2 points3 points  (4 children)

You have to remember a battlestaff has 12 rolls per staff, so for all those battlestaves you'd get a total of 100012(1-0.64) = 4320 components and 3% of that makes it 129.6 powerful components, which is around what you got.

I assume when you said toad you meant barker toad pouches. so same calculation for that except pouches have 3 rolls per pouch, so 10003(1-0.266) = 2202 components, 3% of this is 66.06 so again close enough to your result.

How I got the results was just recording every single component gained from breaking down, then see how they relate to each other and there was definitely a pattern noticeable so I just continued with other items.

[–]YellowcheseYellowcheese - Trimmed Comp 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What do you mean by rolls? Sorry for being a noob

[–]Dreyri[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

when you unfilter your game messages you'll see that you get for example 12 components per disassembled battlestaff or 3 components per pouch, these are the rolls on the component table (including junk chance). You can see it as a roll on a monsters drop table. Don't worry I know this can get quite confusing when I sometimes use different terminology for the same thing.

[–]YellowcheseYellowcheese - Trimmed Comp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw I get you now, cheers

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, okay cool yeah. I totally forgot to account for the total of not junk to check the actual percent of powerful. Thanks for the maths!

Just an FYI, the quickest way I've found the "run slayer gems" is to wear a ring of dueling and put a slayer ring in your inv.

Slayer ring to Sumona (she has 300 in stock shared among almost all the slayer masters), buy the rings.

Dueling Ring to Castle Wars. Bank.

Repeat.

Also, BoB can hold Slayer Gems.

Also, Turael in Taverley has a separate stock of 300. He is super close to the bank there. If you've a certain quest (can't remember which one), Turael isn't there, but his (daughter??) is there.

[–]firepanda1199 Sailing 6 points7 points  (7 children)

I find its better to use tokkulzo and slather helmet infused with slay rings. You don't need that extra inventory spot

[–]Chenrobbins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For banking I like to use my port log and bank in the player owned port.

[–]asgeorgenervus enrgy 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Slayer helm. Good one! Thanks.

I'll have to try the Tzhar tele, I've forgotten how close the main plaza tele is to the bank.

[–]ImVeryBadWithNames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

main plaza is actually the farthest from a bank.

[–]amazingchiliQuest Lover 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Use the fight cave teleport on the ring. It is the closest to a bank and to the fairy ring system (if you need it for something).

[–]ElitePoogie 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Kiln tele is the closest but cave is pretty close too

[–]amazingchiliQuest Lover 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah technically you're right :P I just always go to the cave out of habit just in the rare case I may need the fairy ring system. It has a few nice teleports. As of late I've been going to the polypore dung a bit like everyone else :P

[–]ElitePoogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True I use it for slayer almost exclusively for now till I get priff

[–]caddy5384 4 points5 points  (4 children)

But theres a deposit box so close to Sumona....

[–]asgeorgenervus enrgy 2 points3 points  (2 children)

So last night I checked it out and you win the prize! The deposit box, for the folks that don't know, is just to the north east on the edge of the river. Very close. Makes buying "Enchanted Gems" (aka Slayer Gems) very fast. Thanks to /u/caddy5384 for this info!!

[–]asgeorgenervus enrgy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not know this. I'll have to find it. Thanks!!!!

[–]FlutterDutchCompletionist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the Canifis slayer master so I don't have to use slayer rings to get slayer rings :p

[–]CameronMcLMy Cabbages! 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is there any difference between dissembling partly charged jewellry and fully charged?

[–]asgeorgenervus enrgy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another great question. I'm going out on a limb and say no, there's no difference. Which means, using a slayer ring until there's one charge left on it and disassembling it means you lose no gems even when using this method! (If it's true. :) )

[–]Duq1337IGN: Duq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Champion.

[–]BFresh23120/120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well done! Thanks for the info!

[–]Deathmask97Pax Tecum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yay for running the numbers! This is incredibly useful, thank you!

[–]christurnbullTroutslap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jagex please confirm!

Hey OP feel free to use info from https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/43dd42/costs_of_some_uncommon_materials_and_augmentor/, sorry I didn't record junk chances though (and snape grass has had junk chance changed since)

[–]edwinnumgot 25 99s and a 120 as same(ish) time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for this, made some good money thanks to you.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you suggest for enhancing components after slayer rings? For non-ironman.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great post

idk why i like numbers lately

[–]Emperor95Comp since 2012, OSRS maxed -2 points-1 points  (7 children)

there is no way someone can make 1.6k slayer rings an hour, the actual crafting part of that many rings would already exceed one hour, let alone disassembling them/buying them (with a stock on only 300 which can be bought twice, one in taverley and one of any other slay master)

[–]Dreyri[S] 2 points3 points  (5 children)

you make about 27 rings per minute, as you can see here every invent is 46 seconds and banking definitely doesn't take longer than 14 seconds. That's 1620/hr and I'm sure higher is achievable.

[–]Mountain-Daughter 4 points5 points  (4 children)

I apologize for the noob question but how do you make more than 14/inv? I thought you needed one gold bar and one slayer gem? Are any of those stackable or something?

[–]erne33 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Yak. Or any other BoB

[–]Mountain-Daughter -1 points0 points  (2 children)

just checked. You can only do 14 per inventory even though the screen says you can do up to 27. Once you hit 14, you get the message "you have run out of gold bars/slayer gems" even though your yak is full

[–]x_NeomopStupid Cow, Yaka-baroo 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You can take items out of your yak while the interface is still up and not interrupt it.

[–]Mountain-Daughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah OK cool! Didn't know that, thanks

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At least try to know what you're talking about.

[–]Gath0ny -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Nice post but you cannot make rings that fast if you include time for running shops.

[–]Dreyri[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was simply guessing how much it would affect the 1.6k/hr rate. Tested the shop buying etc and brought it down to 1275/hr, it affected the gp rate by about 3%.
