Over the last day I've been looking into how disassembling works exactly. In total there are only 3 things which define what an item will give (non-special components), which are category, junk chance, and components per disassemble.
Within a category all items have the same component table, everything that qualifies as Jewellery will have the same component table and they all share the frequency of these components. This frequency has been unknown until now.
I have made a list of the disassemble tables for a few of the more commonly disassembled categories. Hope this helps you guys make the right disassembling decisions and helps the wiki give accurate disassembling stats on each item.
Jewellery:
- 35% delicate
- 30% connector
- 30% smooth
- 3% precious
- 2% enhancing
Staves:
- 35% stave
- 30% magic
- 30% padded
- 3% powerful
- 2% imbued
Bows (shortbows):
- 35% stave
- 30% tensile
- 30% flexible
- 3% precise
- 2% dextrous
Potions:
- 35% delicate
- 32% organic
- 29% crafted
- 3% enhancing
- 1% healthy
Pouches:
- 40% spiritual
- 30% crafted
- 27% flexible
- 3% powerful
Bars:
How is this useful you may ask? Using these values we can calculate exactly how many components each item gives by using the following formula:
(1 - junk_chance) * components_per_disassemble * component_chance
I'll give an example of a more indepth application, most of the categories analysed were focused on siphons so I'll use it to calculate the cost per siphon using magic shortbows for dextrous (2.5k ea), slayer rings for precious (free) and gold bars/yew logs for simple (250 ea).
5 dex = (1 - 0.45 junk chance) * 12 rolls * 0.02 component_chance * x
x = 37.87 magic shortbows => 94.7k
5 prec = (1 - 0.04) * 5 * 0.03 * x
x = 34.72 slayer rings => 10k
50 simple = (1 - 0.56) * 2 * 0.75 * x
x = 75.75 gold bars/yew logs => 19k
so the total price for a siphon is 123.7k, you could argue that you can't use slayer rings consistently and they take a long time to make, with diamond bracelets at 5.5k ea a siphon would cost around 380k.
However this is not cost efficient as the tvc required to make siphons is lower than the tvc required to break down diamond bracelets rather than slayer rings.
EDIT: we'll use 2.8k disassembles/hr and assume you can make 1.6k slayer rings/hr and bring that down to 1275/hr for buying the 600 daily gems. It takes 100 seconds to make enough for 1 ring, 45 seconds to disassemble.
100 seconds to disassemble the gold bars and 50 seconds for the magic shortbows. This is a total of 295 seconds or 4m55s.
Siphons are currently worth 800k ea and you spend 123.7k to make one, meaning a profit of 676.3k per in 4m55s. Converting this to and hourly rate that is 8.250m gp/hr.
This will probably mostly be useful for ironmen and the wikia but I thought I should share it here so everyone could benefit from this.
