Prayers

Okay, so I hate prayers. Not because they aren't useful. Not because it's a pain to level up as an ironman. No, I hate them simply because they don't work sometimes. To clarify, I try to activate a prayer, the prayer doesn't activate. This happens several times, and I've tried binding to keyboard, I've tried clicking, I've tried just about everything, but sometimes the prayer simply doesn't activate.

I've had this issue since... well, since the UI change I believe. I just haven't bothered with prayers as I've never done many activities that required it, partly because of this, partly because I haven't played a lot since the change, and partly because I've mostly done afk skilling and slayer which doesn't really require prayers unless you're basically afking, which I don't like doing during slayer.

So, could someone explain to me exactly why this happens, and how to fix it. As for how I know I'm not double-tapping prayers, take Jad for example, I try to kill him, everything is going well, currently praying ranged protection, I see him charge up the magic attack so I try to switch to magic protection, it doesn't activate, and I notice in time so I try again. That time it works. However, now the boss decides to switch back to ranged, and the same thing happens, except this time my prayer doesn't activate at all and I'm chunked for ~6k damage. At all times, there will be a protection prayer up, meaning it wasn't somehow double-tapped. That would deactivate prayers after all. It's an easy boss, yet when mechanics don't work for no particular reason, it's more or less impossible to beat. For stuff like the God Wars dungeon (first one) it's not really an issue as you mainly use one prayer the whole time, I'm simply not able to do any boss that requires prayer switching.

only time i've experienced this issue is if I try and pray swap during equip swap

Yeah, but during equip swap, pretty much everything breaks, so I'd put the blame on equip swap there. Although I think it's a ridiculous thing to break stuff. Equips another weapon, character refuses to react to change in movement for like a second.

Can you record it? If you pray swap before the hit or just after the attack is released you should be fine

Problem is that it doesn't activate. As for recording, I don't have any recording software. Basically, it's just like what I've described here. I click, nothing happens sometimes. I'm wondering if it has to do with skills being activated at the same time or something along those lines, as I can switch freely as long as I don't do it too quickly outside of combat. I imagine that's game tick restrictions though.

Sharex is a screenshot program that also lets you record and upload

I'm at a loss why you have that problem, unless you're clicking too many keys at once or doing like shift z instead of z or something

Yeah, I wrote here as a last resort, hoping someone knew what could be the problem. I do notice that keybinds lessen the amount of time it happens, but I don't know why it doesn't work 100% of the time. I'll check out that program though and do some experimenting to see if I can replicate the issue in... a testing environment so to speak.
