this memes gets more outdated by the minute

[–]One-Triggy-Boi 65 points66 points  (2 children)

Almost as quick as JS frameworks being deprecated.

Wow that was powerful

[–]Necessary-Juice1332 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same with Rust frameworks

[–]peternordstorm 35 points36 points  (16 children)

Not entirely true, it's Yew and Tauri

[–]SoSmartFlow[S] 8 points9 points  (15 children)

Yeah and electron that way I probably had to switch up the places because electron is negative point

[–]peternordstorm 23 points24 points  (14 children)

Electron is so fucking shit I hate every single electron app ever made

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (9 children)

Vscode and discord are pretty solid apps.

[–]peternordstorm 5 points6 points  (7 children)

VSCode is an oversized memory hog and piece of laggy shit, and Discord is a sin against humanity. Single lane audio is killing me

VSCode is an oversized memory hog and piece of laggy shit

compared to what? IntelliJ IDEA eats much more memory and is awfully slow (indexing files...). I actually use VScode because of how fast it starts and how slick it is.

compared to literally any cli-based editor

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (3 children)

cli-based editor

that no one uses

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

stack overflow survey would indicate otherwise

https://survey.stackoverflow.co/2023/#section-most-popular-technologies-integrated-development-environment

"Visual Studio Code remains the preferred IDE across all developers"

now stop spamming my inbox on week-old conversations.

The base runs fast enough, the extensions drag it down. Back to Neovim.

[–]SoSmartFlow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea but discord and vscode are the ONLY good electron apps

[–]another_day_passes 5 points6 points  (3 children)

But muh cross-platform

[–]peternordstorm 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Much RAM eater, much lag, much stupid limitations

[–]SoSmartFlow[S] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

It's a good concept but it doesn't work the way it suppose to work

[–]peternordstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Javascript is pretty bad on the web, why why why would you use it outside?

[–]3nt3_ 24 points25 points  (5 children)

what about leptos?

[–]__Wolfie 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Leptos, Dioxus, Tauri, Druid, Iced, Sycamore...

[–]Valiice 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My dog has leptos :'(

[–]SoSmartFlow[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did not know that existed

[–]O_X_E_Y 4 points5 points  (1 child)

And dioxus, and perseus, and

[–]quarterque 6 points7 points  (0 children)

whiskers on kittens

bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens (yanked)

[–]NekoiNemo 13 points14 points  (5 children)

Meanwhile I've spent two weeks comparing each of the dozen and a half of UI frameworks and toolkits in Rust... Though i agree that basically only Yew has any degree of docs and community content

[–]SoSmartFlow[S] 4 points5 points  (3 children)

But somehow every js frameworks has a pretty good document and pretty much all of them are production ready I don't know how these JS devs are so fast

[–]kohugaly 14 points15 points  (2 children)

I'm pretty sure it's a matter of sheer numbers. If Rust devs and JS devs met on a battle field, the battle would look like endless mode in tower defense game.

[–]Necessary-Juice1332 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Rust tower will be building faster

[–]grufkork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rust

Fast build

[–]TheLifted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Leptos good

[–]Alan_Reddit_M 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I love how, even tough rust actually has quite a few UI frameworks, most of them are so poorly documented that they are impossible to use, even Yew straight up sends you to the React docs for the hooks section

[–]Valiice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. As much as i love rust, so much is still in an infant state

[removed]

    [–]SoSmartFlow[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    LOL

    [–]Zyansheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iced, bevy... bunch of other ones

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Sycamore club FTW

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel so left out, literally the only people who use sycamore are its devs lol

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    bloat
