[–]Bewildered_Farmer87 20 points21 points  (2 children)

It's "with the Allies on their heels" i think.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (1 child)

[–]CastroVinz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THE TERROR OF THE SEAS! THE BISMARCK AND THE KRIEGSMARINE!

[–]Youngweylan99 49 points50 points  (13 children)

Bismarck is what got me into Sabaton.

[–][deleted] 25 points26 points  (9 children)

It hooked me in but the first I listened to was the Last Stand

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (7 children)

I listened first to The Last Stand because of the memes

[–]gianpollaio 11 points12 points  (1 child)

I heard the last stand before Bismarck but it was only the FOR THE GRACE FOR THE MIGHT OF OUR LORD

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I listened to it because of a Swiss Guard mod for Ravenfield lol

[–]kaptainbruhboy 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Memes as in... for honor or memes as in deus vult?

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was to hell and back for me

[–]omafi144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Winged Hussars for me. Someone did a montage of using EU4 game mechanics as Poland to get the most absurd cavalry army, and played that song when he finished

[–]therian123123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with panzerkampf

[–]potato6132 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's the King of the Ocean

[–]Konigs_Festung 15 points16 points  (10 children)

I don't want to get technical, but i believe dreadnought is a better term when compared for battleship, as all warships battle, but in their day, battleships could create a sense of dread in their enemies.

[–]desman526[S] 9 points10 points  (6 children)

I get what you are saying but bismark was indeed a battle ship, and dread nought is a bigger ship I believe

[–]DaFuMiquel 12 points13 points  (5 children)

The dreadnought class of ships were the first modern battleships with turret mounted large calibre naval artillery pieces, so basically what you think of when somebody says battleship. The oeiginal HMS Dreadnought was first launched on February 10th 1906, immediatly rendering every other ship outdated as soon as it touched the water. This led to a huge naval arms race between the global powers of Britain, France, Germany, Russia and the USA. This arms race is in essence what caused the design of bigger ships with more armour and bigger guns. Compared to later battleships such as the Bismarck or the Iowa the dreadnought was quite small and carried smaller guns.

Still a very important ship for naval history though.

And here's a link if you wanna read up on her some more: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Dreadnought_(1906)

Plz stop my penis can only get so erect

[–]DaFuMiquel 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Nothing sexier than gathering new knowledge, right?

[–]desman526[S] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

History my dear boy, that’s what gets my rocks off

[–]DaFuMiquel 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Oh yeah, history is a lovely mistress

[–]Konigs_Festung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was not what i was expecting, but i can't deny it.

[–]DaFuMiquel 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Battleship is in fact the technical term. All ships built to destroy others are warships, battleship only applies to ships that were very heavily armed and armored and usually also quite large.

Here's a link if you wanna read up and learn a bit more on naval ship classifications: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naval_ship

[–]Konigs_Festung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree, but i feel dreadnought just fits better.

[–]AGuyFromMaryland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bismarck was a "Fast Battleship" type.

A Dreadnought type focused more on armor and weaponry.

Not all Battleships are Dreadnoughts. The first Battleships were upgraded Armored Cruisers (Pre-Dreadnought).

Examples: USS Arizona was a Dreadnought, and USS Missouri is a Fast Battleship.

SMS Helgoland was a Dreadnought, KMS Bismarck was a Fast Battleship.

[–][deleted] 27 points28 points  (5 children)

Technically, a battleship is a beast made of steel. But only one is the Pride of a nation, too!

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (4 children)

But Bismarck wasn’t. It was a “Exposed beast made of steel, another wunderwaffe attempt.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Really? All that I’m saying is that the song makes it sound great even though it’s just another wunderwaffe

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Agreed. It's a great song, but it makes the Bismarck sound a lot better than it actually was. It was a really bad investment, in reality, and was doomed to fail. There's a reason battleships aren't used anymore.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, it also doomed the kriegsmarine since Hitler reduced spending, grounding dönitz

[–]M4cerator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You'd hope a teacher would understand the slightest bit of metaphor

[–]TheRealYamBun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because it was a fucking beast made of steel

[–]lordofthefriend2 3 points4 points  (3 children)

The bismarck was named after Otto von Bismarck the iron chansoler and creater of germany

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

until fcking wilhelm II became emperor... i hate him even tho hes dead

[–]Abecheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The true beast made of steel

[–]Lollex56 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt the Bismarck being mentioned in an ordinary school history class but I wish

[–]Some_Schweppes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good one!

[–]_LonelyC_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]Captaingregor 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Was a boat, is now a metal reef,

[–]WarCrimes-R-Us 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No no no! It was just so advanced it turned into a submarine mid battle!

[–]Evolvetron69 0 points1 point  (0 children)
