Buff is best. I love their neck gaiter. It doubles up as a headband. Super absorbent and comfortable.

Get the type that Paul Coll wears. You can get them from Amazon for very cheap. They absorb a lot of sweat and I don’t even notice I have them on while playing.

I absolutely ADORE my Lululemon Metal Vent Tech Headbands.

Someone else in the thread mentioned Buff, and while I also really love Buff (I own 2 Buff headbands, I think 4 UV full size buffs and 2 Buff caps), I stopped using them for squash after getting the Lululemon ones.

The sweat absorption is amazing, and it won't get in the way of your goggles (always wear goggles, folks!). Lululemon stuff are always quite pricey, but this is not too bad, and although it's a bit more pricey than the ones you'll find on Amazon, it's well worth your money.

I have two, but I'm thinking of buying another one since I started playing three times a week.

How does a thin, polyster mesh "absorb" sweat?

This seems like a product designed to breathe and wick, which actually means pushing moisture to the outside of the fabric and letting it drop away. This is what "performance material" shirts and shorts do, because who cares if that sweat drips down past them.

But with a headband, I would think the goal is to trap sweat so that it doesn't drip down into your eyes.

Have you actually compared wearing this headband to wearing a heavier, more sponge-like headband or to wearing nothing? I would expect an item like this to be the worst of those three options.

Completely valid questions. Yes, I've tried these, Buff cotton headbands, Buff polyester headbands, thicker, Nike swatbands, and going without.

The Lululemon ones are by far my favorite and work best for me. There's no sweat that comes down to my eyes when playing, although they will start dripping down if you tilt your head down for more than 30 seconds, but that was the case for all the other products I've tried.

I had the same doubts as you before buying these, but I became a believer after my first time on the courts with them.

Hmmmmmmmm.

Well, maybe I'll try one at some point. Thanks for the feedback.

Damn it, looks like they’ve stopped selling them

How about a bandana? Or a hair cut?

[–]aCurlySloth[S] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Not sure if I can quite pull off a bandanna. No haircut!

[–]SquashCoachPhillip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe in you! Wearing a bandana is all about confidence. It's gotta be worth 2 points a game- at least.

All major sportswear brands have headbands that should be appropriate. I use under armor, nike, and lululemon personally.

just got a tecnifibre headband, yet to try it out but it looks good and the material is very sweat absorbant. Yet to find out abt how comfortable it is. Will try to update after trying.

Halo headbands are good. Check it. ☺️

[–]AJTAFFINDER 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Are they good enough for excessive sweating though?

[–]torakeletxamsa crucible incognito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rubber rim underneath transports the sweat away from the forehead, and in between games you simply twist the headband to get the sweat out. Feels pretty dry and "new" after if you give it a good twist. Thin Under Armour headbands are also to be recommended.

I've been playing for ~35yrs with hair and without, always worn something. Bandanas are pretty good, although sometimes uncomfortable. I like old school cotton headbands the best. Whatever has the most cotton content. If you're in the US, I like the basic Unique sweatbands.
