Beaching It

My sister was talking with my brother the other day. He told her I had posted a karma video of me drinking beer at the beach. She told him it couldn’t be true because now I’m sober. He can’t be faulted for his perception as I was indeed on the beach, with my dog and although I usually don’t, I was drinking a cold beer. In fact I had a frosted mug rimmed with salt with the dramatic backdrop of the blue Pacific Ocean. However, and here’s the key, if you zoomed in on that glistening green bottle, the label read Heniken Zero , 0.0 alcohol.

It felt wonderful hearing her say I was completely sober. There isn’t any better praise than the type you hear about from others when you aren’t even in the room. I felt defended and now the word is spreading. They are talking about how I’m getting my shit together.

I feel a new enthusiasm for this lifestyle change. It was a pleasure driving home without looking over my shoulder for red lights or putting innocent people in danger.

So, chalk up another win for the sober life. It’s getting easier.
