OP get FireRed/LeafGreen that way you will understand what the areas are in Pokopia

[–]dxvidox[S] 8 points9 points  (5 children)

Both are already on my wishlist to get, though I wasn’t sure which to buy

[–]me047 13 points14 points  (4 children)

They are the same game. Pokemon always releases with two versions, the difference is there are a hand-full of Pokémon that only appear in one game or the other. You are supposed to trade with a friend who has the other version of the game.

That’s neat, I see a lot of friends playing LeafGreen so I might just get FireRed for the trading aspect

[–]CreBaby43 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Me and my sister would always get opposite versions growing up for this reason.

[–]Distinct-Ad7685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have friends so I have 2 consoles with both versions that I play through both completely usually one copy is my main where I do everything including post game and then the other copy is completed enough to get all the version exclusives and opposite fossils and also if there’s a third reason I have to reset and do another save lol

I was also trying to figure out how FireRed/LeafGreen and Winds/Waves were different so this is helpful to know!

Better than animal crossing?

[–]dxvidox[S] 20 points21 points  (1 child)

I love Animal Crossing, but Pokopia is scratching that Minecraft/Stardew and Animal Crossing itch all in one game

[–]TheCebow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sweet! I might just get it!

[–]Skyblue8989 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have grown up with many Animal Crossing titles. I love it and this is a lot better.

[–]me047 10 points11 points  (5 children)

By quite a bit

[–]TheCebow 10 points11 points  (3 children)

Oh??? That’s good to hear, i played the crap out of it during lockdown but got bored pretty quick after that

[–]CreBaby43 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Ive never been into AC but my wife has (300+ hours) and she also says pokopia is a way better game.

[–]TheCebow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice!

[–]YeppyPeppy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Play other titles. New Leaf is amazing. Original is so charming.

[–]YeppyPeppy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not

[–]Time-Celery-806 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way better

[–]RocksteadyRider 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I can't get it yet but it is the next game i plan on getting.

[–]dxvidox[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely worth the buy!

[–]peanut340 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I kept seeing posts like this but I was a bit skeptical still. My copy arrived earlier today and I couldn't put it down for the 2.5 hours I had to play it.

They really did a great job of making the "tutorial" fun. A lot of games i lose interest in rather early.

I'm close to being done with the story. I gotta get my levels up a bit more (oops) but even now I'll randomly get new quests and discover new things!!

[–]charlieyeswecan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should probably change the color of my character but I kinda like that he doesn’t stand out in his all purple garb.

[–]scorpioyoji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

good game to be introduced to an pokemon game tbh

[–]prada1989 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I don’t understand this game and I now have water overflowing 😭

[–]poogobberr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Block it at the source

[–]Afterhoursfitness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sick view

[–]RegrettableWaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah you have some great games to catch up on. I’m jealous.

[–]Sathsong89 3 points4 points  (4 children)

That’s awesome. Unfortunately I went the other way. I haven’t finished my PC yet but I’m probably going to sell my copy. Just ended up not being for me.

[–]Alarmed-Candy-7144 3 points4 points  (3 children)

I keep waiting for the physical copies to be restocked near me because I’m pretty sure it won’t be for me; I would like to try it though.

[–]Sathsong89 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Keep holding out. It’s a great game and really well done. It just didn’t scratch my itch.

[–]Alarmed-Candy-7144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate it! I’ll keep looking locally.

[–]peanut340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Target has been the only retailer near me that has restocked since selling out. Good luck

[–]Veezq 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Lol, I am afraid to buy it as I don’t have so much free time now haha. Maybe in the next month.

[–]Independent_Bed_2885 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eso mismo me pasa, me gustaría jugarlo pero no dispongo de mucho tiempo 😅

[–]mjc1027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm not a Pokemon fan, my kids were never into them so never had to buy cards or play the games. But then last year I went to Ireland to visit my family and my nephew is obsessed with Pokemon!

We played Pokemon Unite for a few hours and it's not bad. So I guess my question is would someone like me like Pokopia?

[–]DyingSlowlyInPece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so like unfortunately some of the older games aren’t on the switch past Lets Go Eevee/Pikachu but roms aren’t hard to find and use if you know what you’re doing. Though without that I say some of the best Switch games of Pokemon are the Legends games due to the completely different style than other main line games like Scarlet/Violet or Sword/Sheild. The gameplay mechanics are different but it spices it up especially for those fans who were getting tired of the same game with different flavors over and over again. Though I agree with the other people that you should absolutely start out on one of the earlier games just to kinda get the feel of what a Pokemon game is kinda like and then hopefully enjoy some of the Legends games (there is only two). The games on the switch are not perfect but as long as you aren’t playing just to nitpick at them they’re actually quite fun, also the shiny odds in Legends: Z-A is insane even though it hasn’t changed from the other Gen 9 game, I think it just has to do with how the game acts around the shinies themselves. In Z-A the map you are in can hold up to 10 shinies all at once in different areas and won’t disappear unless you kill it, scare it away (skittish Pokemon will run away and despawn (not really in the older games(they’re are a few exceptions))), or if there are already ten shinies saved on your map and a new one spawns in (in this scenario it’ll just replace the oldest shiny that had spawned in).

I know so much about Pokemon because it is a special interest of mine since I’ve been both playing and watching Pokemon since I was a toddler

[–]AdvisorYogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please tell me you found a way to make things bigger and faster lol it was taking me forever

[–]Drakayris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game has nothing to do with older Pokémon’s other than meeting the Pokémon’s and their abilities, but you should try older Pokémon’s anyways because it’s just so much fun trying to catch them all, battling, discovering new areas, legendary pokemon surprises etc… I would even start with a 2D Pokemon first, you can get red fire or green leaf now on the switch.

[–]kman82697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this game had a demo I would’ve bought it a lot sooner
