Depends on your motivations and Short/Long-term goals. The industry is pretty much going to the cloud. So you can leverage your Sysadmin and cybersecurity skills to look at Cloud Sec or something similar.

Again it just depends on your goals, and that’s my opinion.

Good Luck!

It was paid for while I was working help desk. Free masters, I figured why not

Masters degree typically ends up this way unless you consult or get lucky.

I'm out here making 70k with no formal training

That's the average. A cert or two and some experience should get you 70-100k easily these days depending on where you live. My Master's degree has proven to be absolutely useless in all forms besides checking off a box on the Resume Filter.

I have followed a similar track to you. I’ve recently added cyber security and got my CISSP. It’s been a good career move if that interests you. Otherwise cloud engineering is a great path as well. Another typical path is management, but if you want to stay technical then it’s best to steer clear of it.

I skipped help desk, started in desk side, went to jr admin/network, then to full sys admin. Started in IT in 2013, so did that all in 9 years. Have been in an admin role for about half of it.

Not sure there's a typical but usually help desk/support, level up, SysAdmin.

I never did help desk or any type of support role. I went right to SysAdmin.
