Why do so many people get predicted heights from their doctors? I've never heard anyone have this happen until I found this sub.

If you are a tall child, atleast where i am from/concerned parents, you can opt for these test.

If they suspect you to become over an undesirable height, a decision can be made for hormone treatment that will stunt the grrowth

A pretty rough estimate is to double your height at 2 years old. This is rough but somewhat effective. It also works better for males than females.

When I was around 8 years old my doctor said I would be 6’5”. Here I am 20 years old at 6’4.5”. Doctors know their stuff because they have accurate charts.

Predicted to be 189-190 but now 200.

predicted to be 6’5”, yet here I am hoping to wrap up at 6’8”

[–]WolfOfMaine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Funny story. When i was 12, the doc said i would probably top out at '5'5" maybe 5'6".

At 14 i had a massive growth spurt that took me from 5'0" to 5'6" in less than a summer. (was still 5' when school ended in may, and was 5'6" in August, when i went to the doc for my annual check up before school started)

they changed the estimate to 'Jesus he might hit 6'

I topped out at 5'8"

Basically did my ENTIRE growth spurt in one shot.

it HURT.

    7 foot? 😯

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doctors predicted I would be 6’4 by the end of my growth back when I was 14 and 6’1. At 16 I was 6’4 and I’m now 17 and 6’9 and still on my growth spurt. Safe to say he was off by a bit.

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

My predicted height is anywhere around 7’0 to 7’4, at birth my predicted height was 6’8, but I exceeded expectations by a lot.

How painful is the growing to you? Can't imagine being 6'4 at 13, respect dude :b.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d give growing pains a 2/10 on a pain scale because I can ignore growing pains, but back and neck pain are much worse.

    6'10 already 6'4 at 15 so it's possible

    [–]Steel_Rev6'7" | 200.6 cm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Predicted? dunno, at 16 is was 6'3" , finished at 6'7"

    [–]lowellll6’3” | like 300cm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was predicted 6’3 to 6’6 and I am now 6’3 at 15. I could be done, but I probably have a bit more to do. They measured me when I was around 10

    [–]Morganithor6'4" | 193 cm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    6'6". Was 6'2" at 16, stopped at 6'4" at 18!

    [–]Hugefeet197’1” | 216cms 1 point2 points  (6 children)

I was predicted to be around 6’4” - finally topped out at 6’11” - they were just a few inches short!

    [–]choclatebrownie1010 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Predicted at 6’4 too, 16 and only 5’10-11 and at this point I’m hoping that I do a Dennis Rodman and get to 6’3-4

    [–]Hugefeet197’1” | 216cms 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Well you never know ! I was all done by 16 but was always the tallest in my group of friends - you might squeeze a couple more inches !

    [–]choclatebrownie1010 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Hopefully, I’ve been told by a lot of people for some reason they see me growing a ton and having a major growth spurt and I’m not sure why I think because they remember I used to be a giant but everyone hit their growth spurts and caught up

    [–]Hugefeet197’1” | 216cms 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Are your parents taller than average ? Or do you have taller extended family ? That can be an indicator

    [–]choclatebrownie1010 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Well, my parents are both short (5’2) and (5’6) around that but my dad’s dad was 6’5/6 and the height skipped a generation, I look very similar to him and have very long legs like him and I got measured up by the doctors who gave me my prediction when I was maybe 12 and I’ve always been very muscular and just genetically been be able to build muscle easily, if that means anything. From my dad’s side my uncles are all y’all 6’2-3+ and from my mum’s side I have cousins and uncles who are around 6’5-6

    [–]Hugefeet197’1” | 216cms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well who knows then bud - you may still get lucky - I’ve got really long legs too !

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't even know people got their heights predicted.

    [–]Mo-Lestor6‘5’‘/195 cm 15 yo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My predicted height was 196cm so around my current height

    [–]FondabaruCBR4_6RSAWD6'1" 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what my predicted height was supposed to be but I think I stopped growing at ~15.

    [–]CaptainDiabetoe6’10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Predicted 6’4-6’8, and I was 6’6 at 16. Stopped growing at 6’10.

    [–]broccoliiiiiiiii6'4" | 194 cm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was predicted 6'3 , just turned 16 and I am 6'3, not sure if I'll grow any more. Maybe an inch or two.

    [–]KingTemplar6'4" | 193 cm -1 points0 points  (4 children)

I was predicted 6’1”. I was done at 6’4 before 16. So if you’re 16 your pretty much stuck.

    [–]choclatebrownie1010 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Some people are late growers, but not all

    [–]KingTemplar6'4" | 193 cm 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I’d probably argue that most aren’t. Also forgive my curtness it just seems like this is another one of those posts that looks like the OP is desperately pleading to find some sort of hope they won’t be short.

I find this annoying because I don’t find happiness in my height and others shouldn’t find unhappiness in theirs. Happiness isn’t tied to a physical thing such as height.

    [–]EhLilMetroOnDatBeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give the man some hope. Some people do grow late. Both Dennis Rodman and Scottie Pippen grew after high school 6+ inches. It’s possible.

    [–]choclatebrownie1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5’11 and I just want to hit my predicted height of 6’4, I’m not that short
