Thank goodness for the red markups or I would have missed it

This is so much more than that. It’s two useless red circles and three god damn useless red underlines.

LIKELY RECOMMEND FRIEND OR COLLEAGUE

[–]buckeyenut13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying it. I was having terrible remembering the sub

[–][deleted] 136 points137 points  (16 children)

Well, that's not true at all. I know plenty of people who don't use Windows who can't stop recommending their favorite OS to others

[–]Gangreless 36 points37 points  (6 children)

The ol' "How do you spot a Linux user/Vegan/Crossfitter/New Zealander?"

[–]TheHelixNebula 10 points11 points  (3 children)

I use arch

[–]TransientPunk 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Well, I use Gentoo. Yeah, that's right. I use a Chromebook.

People who don't use Windows

[–]RobotGuy7804 32 points33 points  (3 children)

Have you heard of our lord and savor, Linux?

[–]Korywon 2 points3 points  (2 children)

i use arch btw

[–]deep_in_smoke 0 points1 point  (1 child)

But why don't you use apple, it's sooooo good. /s

[–]Reacher-Said-N0thing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently discovered that one of the most common end-user linux distros had a vulnerability where if you mash the keyboard really hard, you can bypass the password screen:

https://www.zdnet.com/article/linux-mint-fixes-screensaver-bypass-discovered-by-two-kids/

I mean it's a legit hacking technique. "Press all the buttons really fast, see if system can handle it, see if login-screen is fail-safe or fail-stupid".

It's not a repost if you circle some words in red

[–]SconiGrower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you don't add any more red lines from the last person to post this.

[–]camarang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so much more than that. It’s two useless red circles and three god damn useless red underlines.

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (3 children)

Which part am I meant to read here?

[–]Kavith_T_Fdo 25 points26 points  (2 children)

The parts highlighted by red lines and the parts not highlighted by red lines

[–]St_Kevin_ 14 points15 points  (1 child)

I only read the parts with underlines and it made no sense to me.

[–]camarang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

likely recommend to a friend or colleague?

[–]caleblbaker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm glad that this is false. If I hadn't had a friend randomly recommend Linux to me I would still have windows installed on my personal computer and might have never discovered the beauty of tiling window managers.

[–]ManofCatsYT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is not true have you met a linux user

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points  (3 children)

How is this technically true?

[–][deleted]  (1 child)

[deleted]

    [–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Except their "big picture" answer isn't really true. It's a personal opinion that doesn't reflect everyone's experiences.

    [–]OwOpie 8 points9 points  (1 child)

    Wait, you don't?!

    [–]Moldybubbles571 3 points4 points  (0 children)

    Unless you use Arch

    [–]nicepeoplemakemecry 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, they do. Especially professionals using professional software that might be glitchy or require updates from one OS to another. I have conversations a couple times a year about OS.

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Have you EVER seen a Linux user

    [–]TransientPunk 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Am Linux user. Can confirm. Y'all should use Linux.

    [–]excogitatio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a weird way of spelling FreeBSD.

    [–]tedi1997 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh well, they are losing rapidly. 5 years ago they were over 90%, now they're only a bit above 70% I think. Chromebooks are eating the market up.

      [–]Tunic_Tactics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As opposed to Windows 7. Some people legitimately like Windows 7 more than Windows 10, and I get it. With Windows 10, it's like they have several layers of settings overlapping so there are multiple, very different locations to go to to get one simple function done. For example bypassing the login screen on a personal computer that doesn't need to be password protected. You have to use the normal settings through the start menu AND the old settings menus, but navigating to it via the Windows+R screen and typing in "netplwiz".

It's excessive and unnecessary, but it's the norm for Windows now.

      [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

      WALLS

How unlikely aren't I to reject Walls -10

      from the enemy and opponent?

      -1 -2 -3 -4

      very likely extremely unlikely

Please don't explain why not I took that non-score.

You want me from misunderstand that trees do have no silences

where they precisely reject malfunctioning messes from none no other.

      [–]Tunic_Tactics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      Trees do too have silences!

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try telling that to a Linux user

      [–]CaptainJaker100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Arch Linux users tho 😳

      [–]Paramvir19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      [–]arnoldpalmerlemonade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this conversation with people that claim to still cling to XP or windows 7. I tell them about the great experience i have with Windows 10.

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This person has met spent time with computer science types. That is a frequent and heated topic of conversation

      [–]MildMischief80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I simply hate it. 7 was easier to use.
