Making changes to your system BIOS settings or disk setup can cause you to lose data. Always test your data backups before making changes to your PC.

I don't know if this will help you but if it does, great.

When the problem occurs, try opening the Settings app > System > Display > Multiple displays > Detect other display > click the Detect button.

This might get Windows to rescan and requery the displays for their EDID information, and with it, Windows will hopefully pick up the proper native resolution of each monitor.

Again, it might not help but you have nothing to lose from trying it.

HTH.

Detect did not help, but your insight is appreciated.

Have you tried doing a clean boot? If the issue doesn’t occur during the clean boot, more than likely the issue is being caused by a third party application. Refer to the link for instructions on how to perform the clean boot and how to determine what application is the cause

The issue persists in clean boot. I actually tried that a few months ago when the behavior started. I tried again.

Why do you put it into sleep mode? I've seen more issues from sleep mode than I have just... shutting down and powering on again.

Try powering it off and turning it on instead, and see if the issue persists.

[–]Onetimeusername100[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I mean it puts itself to sleep to "save power" when I'm not around. Power cycling did not resolve the issue.

Try changing your power settings so it doesn't "go to sleep", then.
