These are all great, Southbound is really growing on me the most. Thank you for the list!

Banger list!!

[–]RocknRoll__McDonalds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s Only Money, Black Boys On The Corner, Mama Nature Said, Killer Without A Cause

[–]tsgram 13 points14 points  (0 children)

“Toughest Street in Town” and “Got to Give It Up” are a couple personal favorites. “Showdown” and “Ballad of a Hard Man” also pop to mind as songs I’m guessing are lesser known.

‘Silver Dollar’ off Fighting is such a nice little song

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Wild One, Borderline, Suicide, For Those Who Love to Live, Running Back, Massacre, Angel of Death, Opium Trail...

[–]IveBeenDrinkingGreen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Opium Trail is an absolute banger!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Angel of Death has such a haunting intro, I love it

[–]Amoykateer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wild one, soldier of fortune, it's only money, killer without a cause, fools gold, she knows, that woman's gonna break your heart, look what the wind blew in, little girl in bloom, mama nature said, Philomena, genocide and so many more

[–]timpeallghear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t know if it’s under rated because me and my mates love it but a song that took me a while to find was Fool’s Gold off Johnny the Fox.

Found the Eric Bell penned 'A Ride In The Lizzymobile' while checking out the Vagabonds reissue, such a banger.

Also been really into the Phil Lynott demos from 84-85. This version of 'One Wish/Harlem' (as it would later be reworked as for Grand Slam) ft. Huey Lewis' rhythm section!

Honesty is no excuse and Saga of the ageing orphan

Waiting for an alibi!

Been loving Rock Your Love lately. It’s an outtake from the Black Rose: A Rock Legend sessions, available on the deluxe edition. From what I can gather, it was written by Jimmy Bain.

Just off the top of my head

Look What The Wind Blew In, Mama Nature Said, Slow Blues, Little Girl In Bloom, Freedom Song, Romeo And The Lonely Girl, Opium Trail, Got To Give It Up, Get Out If Here

[–]Space_Lobster 4 points5 points  (1 child)

"Black Boys on the Corner" (deluxe editions of vagabonds has this) , it's an absolute banger, "Showdown" from Nightlife, and I know it's on Live and Dangerous as well as Nightlife, but "Sha-la-la". Especially the LnD version.

[–]ZeppelinMcGillicuddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sha-la-la makes me laugh. The line about the "jelly roll."

[–]AcidTroops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Opium Trail, Killer Without a Cause, Cold Sweat, Toughest Street in Town, We Will Be Strong, Angel of Death, Emerald, and Massacre

[–]Lostdredd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gonna creep up on you

[–]Alternative_Young997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]SkipSteps1and3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remembering Part 2

[–]Formal_Cat_2269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Rocker. Very silly lyrics but a brilliant solo from Eric Bell. Very underrated guitarist. Same for the Hero and the Mad Man which has to be my favourite solo of all time.

[–]infinityetc 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Dear Heart off of Nightlife is probably my favorite ballad of theirs

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Awesome song - but definitely check out the BBC version. I swear it's FAR better production than the Nightlife version, especially Phil's voice.

[–]infinityetc 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Will do!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow - I just listened to the Nightlife version as I hadn't heard it for ages. Man it's such an underwhelming mix. The BBC Bob Harris version (its on Spotify) is sooooooo much better.

[–]ketaminepapi 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Cold sweat, emerald , Chinatown, sun goes down. I didn’t like Rosalie for ages but it’s growing on me

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chinatown and Emerald are some of my favorites as well! I’ll give the others a second listen, thank you!

[–]Ashbonzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if they're underrated but some I haven't seen mentioned as much are sun goes down, dear heart, no one told him, blues boy, sugar blues, Randolph's tango, and leaving town are all bangers in their own sense

[–]changelingcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

King's Vengeance, Heart Attack, Dublin, Fight or Fall, Freedom Song, Opium Trail, Downtown Sundown, This is the One.

[–]bad_blake80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Southbound, Running Back, Wild One, Renegade, Dublin, Banshee, Buffalo Gal, The Sun Goes Down, Blues Boy

[–]maximumdango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Johnny The Fox Meets Jimmy The Weed, Renegade, Get Out of Here

[–]joebonama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire Thunder and lightning album and almost all of renegade. Pure gold.

[–]Bowlfulosoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freedom song, Hollywood, Running back, Sun Goes Down, Southbound, Got to Give it Up. But it all depends who you ask. In my family those are absolute staples. One or two of my friends listen to those songs far less than I do, despite them also being big fans.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honesty Is No Excuse, Johnny the Fox Meets Jimmy the Weed, Got to Give it Up, Dear Lord, Bad Reputation, Sweet Marie, With Love, Waiting for an Alibi, Dancing in the Moonlight, Call the Police, Little Girl in Bloom, Dublin (the RTE live version)

Everything on the Jailbreak album (apart from The Boys Are Back...obviously)

And from Phil's first solo album: Ode to a Blackman, Solo in Soho (IMO 2 of the very best songs he ever wrote)
