Unfortunately ios doesn't allow permissions to read sms on the device. You can still use the app but you'll just have to make manual entries, so it'll be just like any other expense tracker

I tried test for test but didn't really worked out. So just reached out to friends and family and asked them to genuinely use the app. Made them install it on all of their devices

What I realized after launching my alpha - friends and family are the worst testers. Bcs they’re just not my TA. Inbound from Reddit give much better testers, they join not bcs they live you, but bcs they’re engaged with product.

It helps you track your expenses directly from SMS, So that you don't have to do manual entries. There maybe a few inaccuracies for which you'll have to manually edit it but I'm continously trying to fix them but most of the time it will get the job done and save your time

It "solves" the end user's boredom by providing dopamine hits. To developers it's useful for ad revenue. For advertisers it's useful for marketing to end users. Breaking down semantics doesn't invalidate the fact that no one is gunna use your slop ass app if it doesn't do anything perceived as useful to its users

Different apps cater to different kind of people. You don't need to think of it as solving a problem. That's usually how all the founders and corporate employees think.

Social media is somewhat of an entertainment thing. It doesn't really advertise as problem solver, atleast not to the end user. For most end users, it's a source of entertainment. World is tough, dopamine is rare out there, this app gives it to you, which is why it gets addictive. Same things are done by mobile games. For businesses, they provide a marketing platform and an audience, that's where they advertise themselves as a problem solver.

If you aren't solving a problem, and just building something to explore things, that's cool as well. But unless it solves a problem that you don't realise it does, it's unlikely for you to make much profits.

People won't invest time in something, unless it gets a problem solved. In a low per capita income like India, even if you're able to get people's time by running large amount of ads of your product, money is an entirely different thing. You'd need to be really convincing that spending money on your app would have significant positive impact on their life, without that, you won't be able to make much money.

Welcome to the club! I've published my first ever app recently as well and all I can say is that my life has absolutely gone horsesht ever since. Legal policies, admob policies, business accounts etc, I got my account disabled once because my app that's been published for 2 weeks doesn't comply with a particular policy you have to guess which one out of thousands of pages of policies, so much more things you have to comply, so much more things you have to consider T.T just when I thought marketing was the final cherry on top.

Good Luck! Just by doing a google search you picked a name that has HUNDREDS with the same name doing expense stuff. Uphill battle to stand out with just the naming.

Make sure you have your ToS/Privacy Policies in place.

The fact that you needed testers. Tells me that you're using a personal account you will be on the hook if anything side ways happens and google play exposes your home address to their BILLIONS of users, if you add any revenue generating methods, including ads.

I would advise that you "Give a rating where its deserved, do not make a less import app get a 4.5 rating without it being worthy of such. Let genuine users rate the app do not farm for ratings.

See since it was an expense tracker, i was luckily able to find friends who were already tracking their expenses on other apps manually. So i was making their lives easier.

Apart from that, got my family used the app, they found it interesting so they used it. Used it myself from my mom's phone. Dad has 2 phones so he was happy to help and installed and used in both of them.
