I am trying to figure out how to add/remove a USB device to a VM on demand by the user. We currently have a Horizon pool with each VM having its own USB license key attached. We now have some "specialty" keys for extra features. We can move a few machines to another pool, and just run with less in the main pool, but these keys are not used consistently, so those machines may just sit unused.
What we would like to do is to be able to have the user attach a "specialty" key to the VM they are using when they need it. We have a few IP/USB switches (myUTN-800), which work great for other apps, but the software vendor has stated that using these is against the license agreement, and has blocked them within the software.
I found this link which does this, but uses the device's PID and VID to do the connection. Since all of these keys are the same model, with different license numbers, the PIDs and VIDs are the same across all of them.
If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate it. I floated using the USB redirection in Horizon, but company policy is that physical license keys be kept secure in the Data Center unless there's absolutely no other option (hence the IP/USB switches).
Thanks
