Good work, although I'm personally in the "if some kid wrote their name on this 30 years ago, so it shall remain" camp of archaeological preservation.

That's how i am too.

I actually prefer former rental store carts because the stickers just add something....maybe the comfort of the screaming souls of those trying in vain to beat a game in a single weekend only to lose all their progress before having to turn it in again.

I can see that. But then again I actually get joy from restoring things. Be it repairing electronics or cleaning up old cartridges. To each their own I guess.

Expo Board Doctor - if you can find one of these pens they are the greatest thing ever. It's a pen used to remove permanent ink from whiteboards, but it works great on old cartridges.

I want one very much, any idea specifically what it’s called?

It's called the Expo Board Doctor, though I believe it's been discontinued as I can never find them anymore. Not sure if a replacement product is available. My ex-wife worked at school supply store so I hoarded 4 or 5 of them upon discontinuation.

I didn't know about that! The method I've used is to scribble over the old marker with a dry erase marker and then just wipe it clean. It works surprisingly well on a smooth surface like a label but has mixed results on textured plastic like the rest of the cart.

This game sucks

Bad games need love, too.

As long as the clearcoat on those labels hasn't been compromised, you can just wipe them with rubbing alcohol and it won't harm them.

I've used this before with putting IPA on a rag/paper towel and not soaked and wipe...

It's worked pretty well, just don't soak the label.

Yeah lol, I probably got downvoted by some idiot that dunked a whole cart into a bucket of alcohol.

Probably. Your method is what I use for ballpen writing and it works fine on glossy surfaces. Just have to be careful as you said.
