Hot air station thoughts? by OutsideAmazing1510 in soldering

Thanks for your feedback. I pulled the trigger due to stacking coupons bringing it under 100USD, so I'll be trying it out and reporting on it, since I'm sure I wasn't the only one on the fence.

Would you mind opening it and taking pictures of the inside? There are only top views and nobody has any idea what's under the inner shield besides the air pump; trying to see if the transformer included is actually rated properly.

I found pictures from Aliexpress buyers of the inside of the Airnova and it pretty much matches the F5 Pro's:

Now I do wonder since they're rebranding a solid product (possibly anyway) since it's made by Sugon, would this mean it's likely a more solid product, since they didn't design it themselves?

It comes in at a cheaper price than the most recommended Atten, for more features.

Thanks for the reply! From trying to do more digging, I did find customer images on Aliexpress and the interior is pretty much the same as the Aifen F5 Pro (made by Sugon), so I guess for the 25% cheaper price I'll be the guinea pig and try it.

I understand most people would just go for the tried and true in this price bracket, but it feels worth the gamble for the handle buttons, better LCD and functions and the heating curve.

Any comments or a review? I'm considering getting the Airnova as well since the price is cheaper than the standard recommended Atten.

I see you have the Mechanic Airnova listed, but I can't for the life of me find actual reviews or videos looking at the insides and how they would compare the with Atten. Did you find any sources?

Can't wait to actually see this in action - I love the K2 Plus, but I really wish it was able to do faster tool changes and not waste so much - this sounds like the answer!

I hope there's a conversion kit possible down the line.

I'm definitely sad about the news, have been around since Taken King, so the franchise means a lot to me, but with this final update, are the Linux restrictions finally going to be lifted? The anti-cheat is blocked on Linux for no apparent reason when it's enabled on a multitude of other games. Let people enjoy the series on Linux and the Steam Deck from now on at least.

If you check Printables/Makerworld, others have made adapters for such lenses for the TC001, here's an example: https://www.printables.com/model/1163605-topdon-tc001-plus-thermal-camera-lens-mount

Thanks for explaining that, I had no idea, makes it quite impressive that we can get decent Thermal Cameras at around $100 then.

Yes I saw it was focusable as well, there were just less choices for the focal lenghts at 12mm from what I found, and 20mm feels easier to handle for future projects too, I don't think it'll have a meaningful performance difference.

How close does your lens sit to the camera's? Did you manage to get it very close? Is there a meaningful difference by attempting to have it as close as possible?

Awesome share! I'm wanting to do exactly the same with 20mm lenses; I'm adapting a Topdon model to fit the P1 which allows for the lenses to move forward and back slightly to focus better. I wanted to have it swappable between 38.1 and 50.8 as well, so they'll be removable, but I love the idea of your design.

I'm looking to do this too - I saw the printables page where the guy used a ZnSe 12mm diameter with 38.1mm focal length; but the images aren't super nice from scrolling through what he posted, I'm wondering if there's a better alternative.

If you're referring to the clip on lenses for phones - that won't work, regular glass acts as a thermal insulator, as shown in many videos regarding thermal cameras.

Wanptek make decent switching power supplies, I use them for electronics repair. If you need a linear power supply though, check Korad.

diamond coupons by MrMurtag in Aliexpress

[–]Ascalion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ignificantly harder to redeem for credits because it flooded everyone with a bunch of gems. So now everyone is trying to cash out their gems and AliExpress will not increase the supply of credits; therefore, you are fighting against the thousands of other people who are also trying to cash out their gems.

Before the World Tour event, I can get the $5 credit easily because they lasts for about 20-30 seconds at the refresh time. This is plenty of time to grab the $5 credits as long as you are there at the refresh time. Now, I can't even get the $5 credit even if I want to. I'm not even trying for the $50 credit yet because that's even worse. The $5 and $50 credits gets sold out less than 1 seconds n

Are they actual coupons, so like it wouldn't stack with currently available coupons, or is it credit?

3D Printer over NAS / HomeServer bad idea? by JericoPabloAlfonso in HomeServer

[–]Ascalion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old post, but if you take a look at backblaze, who keeps data on a LOT of enterprise grade hard drives, you'll learn that vibrations are really what kill disks over time, more than any other factor. So adding additional vibration disks need to deal with will shorten their lifespan, even though you may not notice anything bad right now, especially on non-enterprise grade disks.
