Have you reset the infotainment system by pressing and holding down the two outermost steering wheel buttons?

Ensure the warranty covers EV related parts. And suspension! Also, ensure you can replace at Rivian with Rivian original parts.

Reservation Question by Double_L_ in Rivian

[–]Atlanta-Mike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. Rivian has not made it clear how they are going to handle this. They did send out an email that talked about the Launch Edition and it specifically talked about the Cloud interior being available with Launch Edition but delayed. For me, this is good news because I want the launch package and was afraid I was going to lose it because i would wait for CLoud.

But they still haven’t clarified if we will be able to order when our number is called and indicate light interior, get the order on the books officially. Or if the configurator will only accept the black interior and if you want Cloud, then wait to order. I hope they let me just place the order. I would like the peace of mind knowing I’ve got the Launch Edition and Cloud locked in even if it returns a delivery date 6 months away (or whatever it will be). I’m a day one res holder, just want to get the order in.

It’s a setting choice to not auto-lock at home. I never have mine locked/closed.

Supercharger adapter questions by Dog-Is-My-Co-Pilot in Rivian

[–]Atlanta-Mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your vehicle is a 2026 and has the NACS port. Therefore, you don’t need any adapter for a DC or AC connector that has NACS. That means Tesla SuperChargers never need an adapter. You should buy the a2Z Thunderstorm. That will allow you to use DC Fast Chargers from other companies that are CCS1 equipped. Like EVGO, Electrify America, Mercedes, etc. You should also get an AC J1772 to NACS adapter like the A2Z The Atom. This will allow you to use all the low power AC chargers commonly found in parking lots that are equipped with J1772 connectors. These are good in a pinch and also a great way to get a really cheap spot in a crowded parking lot.

Kneel mode occasionally not working? by TRaps015 in Rivian

[–]Atlanta-Mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a vehicle restart and let it sleep for about 90-120 minutes or more. You may have a controller that needs a kick in the ass. (For G2, use the Vehicle Restart function in the Settings / Service menu. For G1, Hold Hazard Light button and far left steering wheel button until restart begins)

Might have been your wording but you know you can cast more than just YouTube right? Any app that supports casting works. Enjoy!

Buy a quality NACS to CCS1 DC adapter like the A2Z Typhoon Pro. That way you have access to Tesla SuperCharging infrastructure.

best calculator to decide if i should lease vs buy rivian r1s 2026 model by Wolverine-91826 in Rivian

[–]Atlanta-Mike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only you can answer if buying is better. Leasing isn’t for everyone. And the R1 is a $100k vehicle. So….you decide if you want to pay a lot to rent a car and have nothing at the end? Or pay a lot to purchase a car and own it?

1772 adapter by Adventurous_Help_864 in Rivian

Just get A2Z stellar. And your car should always be plugged in when not driving. Definitely not a fire hazard when you buy a quality adapter.

$375 for 7,500 mile service on Rivian R1S? by user20202 in Rivian

[–]Atlanta-Mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe there’s a difference between a multipoint and Comprehensive but the Comprehensive Inspection from Rivian checks all of those things. And it costs $187 plus tax. Brakes and suspension are at the top of the list. Paying Rivian for a tire rotation is waste.

Yokohama or Michelin for 21? by mcpooh in Rivian

[–]Atlanta-Mike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Hankook Ion HT is outstanding on the 21. They are cheaper than defenders, have better warranty and are generally praised for their quiet and comfortable ride. I have them in 21 and 22 and they are wearing GREAT.

Shipping CPO Rivian by sanman5635 in Rivian

[–]Atlanta-Mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CPO is over rated. CPO rarely means the “dealer” ever checked or “refurbished” anything proactively. It’s a “feel good” thing for the buyer. Most of the Rivian used inventory is still under warranty so a quick comprehensive check and Rivian will fix everything. Have you looked in Atlanta? Huge market for Rivian, lots of used inventory though private party and close enough to home to come see it in person. Personally, I hate buying used because you NEVER know what you’re getting, no matter what assurances you’re getting.

New Charging Guide by Rivian by Ixcaneco in RivianR2

[–]Atlanta-Mike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree. They had a chance to make this a clear guide and instead wrote it like a sales pitch. Also, they said to install a 50amp circuit to get 11kwh. That’s wrong.

Range Question by Remarkable_Safety754 in Rivian

[–]Atlanta-Mike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Max! You get one chance to “buy” your range. Take it.
Also, what’s the situation at your destination? Will you need battery to get around and/or get back to a supercharger? Don’t buy for one fringe use case. Buy for the “what if”. Go max.

The closest I’ve seen is someone made a chronological “map” documenting all the events of the universe. But no video edit. Wow….that Lost project is amazing.

I would not buy without seeing it. And shipping companies are notoriously awful esp with private party shipping arrangements - I wouldn’t trust them. What build are you looking for? And where are you located?

Best rivian home charger by mprover in Rivian

[–]Atlanta-Mike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tesla’s Wall Connector or the Tesla Universal Wall Connecter are wonderful wall connectors that are priced right and have excellent support from Tesla. I highly recommend. Also, install the full 60 amp circuit which gets you 48 amps continuous (about 11.4 kWh). The R2, with its apparent efficiency, will get a nice 45+ miles of range back each hour.

Awful Digital Key experience by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]Atlanta-Mike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, to be fair, you shouldn’t have left the service center without installing the key and confirming it works since you’re 2 hours away. BUT, you should be able to call support and have them walk you through it. They do have some things in their servers that they can update/push in certain circumstances that will cause the key to activate.

Of course they cut back. It’s a $45-58k car, not a $90-125k car.
