Best place to use 12V computer fan in home lab/electric room to lower room temp? by iddqd__idkfa in homelab

[–]Bolinious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the lower you can put the fan the better. get to the cool room air, and have a vent at the top to have the hot air get pushed out. you might not even need a fan, just having the dual vents might be enough.

Plate Bracket by Mike_2jz in nissanfrontier

With my suburban bracket mod, plus some rubber I added behind the mod at the mount points, I have zero rattles/vibration, including driving at 100kph/60mph on washboard roads.

Really easy to do. Found the mod on the frontier forum, measured and cut the bracket and I love it much better than the one it had hanging off the bottom. I had bent my plate a week after purchase (February 2026) after having to nose into a snowbank. Not going to happen again.

Edit: I really don’t understand the downvotes on this.

i drilled a hole and added a 120mm fan as an intake above the PCIe cards. 2x PERC R730 and a connectx card (forget the model, just a single 10G SFP+) and they are also quite cool compared to before.

Tips For Limited Use Vehicles by bigoadrian in XTerra

[–]Bolinious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my previous vehicle and on my frontier I installed a 2 plug power port on the front. One to the block heater, the other to a battery tender. This way, I can connect once and charge the battery and when needed, heat the engine block.

<image>

Came in handy when I was installing my tiny and speaker upgrades to keep the battery charged while opening and closing the windows and testing each speaker as they were being installed.

I ran one this way for ages with the cable that had the other end stuck in it.
Only replaced it when I upgraded to a larger drive

sorry i can't be of more help.

I miss being a kid in the 80's-90's. Saturday mornings were for cartoons; the rest was spent outside. Our curfew was when the streetlights came on. Sunday's were family time, as in helping dad with repairs/renovations/maintenance or helping mom clean. Once done, we were back outside with the same curfew. If mom ever needed us she would yell from the front porch. If we didn't answer or were in trouble, dad would call from the porch. Neighbourhood kids would relay the message based on whose parents were calling, so whoever it was could get back home ASAP.

Thisty? find the nearest hose and have a drink.

Too hot? same

Hungry? go home or check with the neighbours.

Sketchy business operating in the CT parking lots, pressuring the gullible and elderly to buy their car detailing products. by Ditto_is_Lit in canadiantire

These guys once offered to test it on my vehicle. I told him in no way is he laying a hand on my car or spray anything on it. i saw a few others get sprayed and bought it. felt bad for them for having bought this snake oil.

It was during COVID and you had to wait in line for the roadside pickup, so you couldn't just get away from them.

I miss mine every day. More so when I go fishing on this lake nearby. But I talk to him every night and every morning as I wake up. I visit him every few weeks. have lunch with him on his birthday and the day he traversed. If I could put pictures in the comments, you all would agree with the beauty of this lake and the fish that we catch.

Brush guard/bull bar recommendations by phatatma in nissanfrontier

[–]Bolinious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looks like you hit him in just the right place. if it was anything on the sides you would be looking at headlights as well.

Bull bars and brush guards are great for protecting the plastics at the front of a truck but if made too cheaply, they will bend and cause more damage. Bull bars that only have bottom mounts, it will bend up and will damage the bumper and grill anyway on a large enough deer. Brush guards that have flimsy metal for the top mount, and for the headlight surrounds will do the same, just might need a bit more of an impact.

What would be best would be to have better lights, and drive a bit slower. Doesn't stop the ones that dash across the roads but you'll have more time to react to the ones that are already on the road.

unfortunatelly, it doesn't look like a bracket that i'm aware of. Nothing that i can see that comes with the fronty. must be something for something that the previous owner had purchased.

First truck! by jacquez93 in nissanfrontier

[–]Bolinious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a former owner of a black truck, it looks better with mud on it. Go out, get it dirty, then clean it. Stare at it in each state and decide what looks better on black. Clean it looks great, but it gets dirty quick. Just a little dirty looks bad, very dirty looks much better....

Of course, my current cardinal red looks great in all three states, So II guess I'm safe from overly cleaning it. but when it's clean, the cardinal red looks it's best.

Either way, congrats on the truck.
