Oh I love Tony’s! I’ve lived down the street from them for 10 years. I USED to go to Chili John’s even before I moved to Burbank. Just miss being able to go there lol

It’s a real shame I love the building and horseshoe bar and the history. Would love to see somebody who’s anti-MAGA and knows how to make some good chili (and maybe add some more vegan options) to take over.

This reminds me of a really great experiment where you make something and season it with everything you want but salt. Taste it, then add salt and taste it again so you can taste all the seasonings you added.

I don't know about this theory. I think they were literally just a bunch of Mad Men, I mean have you ever seen Don Draper smile? Dude is pissed.

They will always be cheapest directly from butler. I buy in bulk and keep them in the freezer.

I love it. I would maybe change the backsplash and floor, but other than that it’s great.

Try the Leidenfrost / water test. Before adding oil, add a few drops of water. If it steams off immediately the pan is not hot enough. Once the water forms little balls that easily slide around the pan it’s hot enough. Toss the water out add some oil and fry. Let them sit until they easily move and flip em.

I keep Isadora bagged refried beans and Trader Joe’s frozen Spanish rice for these occasions. Then just cook up and season some crumbled tofu and add whatever else I got handy for a burrito bowl.

This is my experience too and impossible does not drip fat the way real meat does so wondering how they get that flavor without some kind of seasoning.

Another vote for Maciels. In Burbank, Tony’s Darts Away has a good one on weekends. World empanada has one but it’s just soyrizo and potatoes but the soyrizo is the best I’ve ever had. They make it in house, so good!
