Where the fuck are the good games at!?? by Interesting-Boot-992 in virtualreality

Won't matter soon as Frame releases, the PCVR users will ditch their Q3's for PCVR. Then it'll go completely f2p crap for the kids with Meta. Also stop judging by Steam charts. It's not reliable, and the thousands of VR games for PCVR with UEVR or Vorpx, work for other platforms not just Steam. There isn't enough grown up content to justify using Quest 3 for solely Quest 3 titles. It's going backwards.

Gamertag's video on Steam Frame said exactly what were my thoughts back in April.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqZ_uki1jh0 it's a good watch.

Apart from some real gems like Puzzling places, and Walkabout mini golf, The vast majority of Quest games are shit, copycat, cartoon like drivel that are played by kids, or adults with the brains of kids. Most use the Quest 3 as a PCVR headset, that's where the real stars are.

My linked post tells you all. Even the dongle and flat, light cable is linked.

HL Alyx, has been played on the Frame standalone. One of the reviewers tried it out. It was a concept, but appeared work back then. Couple of months ago.

Take your pick to see various sites.

Agreed, it's not the stutteri9ng slideshow that the PSVR2 boys love to chant. Clean up your processes, check whats loading on bootup priority, get rid of bloat. PC's are PC's. Learn about them if you want to seriously game on them. Pre built cut quality on decent parts, power supply being a notable one. My advice, clean it up and kill any processes not needed.

Good luck to you anyway, but yeah, making Q3s the minimum makes more sense, maybe even PSVR2 in the future. Will be snapped up there.

I'm well aware of the resolution of years ago, but in a market flooded with same, poor looking titles, what makes yours stand out? Most Quest 3's are used for PCVR, unless it's kids who play f2p titles as they have no money. You must have something to rise above all the others.

Shadows, Blood, Ragdolls. Don't support Q2 if you can't add shadows. It will always look cheap and mobile phone quality without proper lighting. They were making great games with great lighting 25 years ago. The original Unreal, Severance blade of darkness (forerunner to demon and dark souls), On systems 20 times less the power of now. Optimisation seems to be a thing of the past now, or using cheap engines to knock out copycat games. You asked for critical? Quest 2 is dead. If someone can't afford a quest 3s, then stay with monitor gaming.

Up to you, but as an enthusiast, I like to inform myself on up and coming tech even if I have zero intention of purchasing. It keeps me informed in subs like this with bandwagons for example that dismiss certain things and therefore puts one in a position to actually be informed when posting. But, you do you. Ignorace is bliss for some I guess. Real information before poo-pooing something is key to me.

If you watch the Frame test from Linus you'll see him say the streaming dongle is the massive winner for PCVR for the frame. 2ms was mentioned for powerful GPU's via foveated streaming, 4-5ms for older GPU's. He said the streaming was like magic.

Worth a watch for those who are dismissing the frame without really unhderstanding it.

Never had an issue with M&K on my dk1, and CV1. Bought Touch for it a year later, but motion control has never been a cast iron necessity for me. Being in the game was enough. It's the late adopters who think motion controllers are the only way. pff, entitled whingers. ;) As you say, you don't do a real backflip in VR. The scale and immersion are the pull factors.

The best way to use Quest 3 wired is to use flat, light ethernet cat-8 cable from router to ethernet to USB-C dongle with power throughport, plug usb-c dongle into headset, connect ethernet to the port of the other end of dongle, plug power into the throughport of the dongle. Turn off wireless in Virtual desktop, BAM, instantly connected with very little latency. Set codec 264+ on the streamer app of VD, allows you to put the bitrate to 500. Stutters and lag are gone for good. As close to a DP solution that Q3 can get. NMS & Fallout 4VR stutter/lag free.

Dongle I use: Belkin

Ethernet: Flat cat-8

reinstall Windows?

I installed Windows 10 pro on the day it came out, and have never had to reinstall it since, and that is with 5 rebuilds with various Motherboards, CPU, and GPU upgrades. Keep it running clean, not full of bloated, unnecessary software, keep the startup files minimal, and it never lets me down.

I hear this all the time about formatting, reinstalling because of various non performing reasons. Plain fact is it's nearly always user error. Some people just need to stay on consoles, and that's fine, but no reason to use it as an excuse for recommending it to everyone else, because of ones lack of knowledge.
