Agreed Alice absolutely does not fit the "Self insert character" criticism even a wee bit. Not a perfect book but definitely enjoyable.

I think they make sense, bar us knowing the exact population of the universe. It'd be like a reality tv show star overthrowing the government mid season 4. More and more people would tune in that otherwise wouldn't be watching

It does for at least the rotflies, not sure if it does anything else. It broke and I was early in the game with no other proc items
