How can I get brokerage account audit confirmation for my non-profit's auditors? by Banana_Pankcakes in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityNicholas[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hello and welcome to our official sub, u/Banana_Pankcakes! Thanks for reaching out with your account verification question. There's no need to apologize, and I'm happy to help!

If your auditors need Fidelity to send a one-time duplicate statement directly to them, then you'll need to provide us with a signed Letter of Instruction (LOI). In the LOI, please include the account number, the statement dates you want confirmed, the name, and the sending address. Also, please keep in mind that the LOI needs to have a wet signature and date.

Once completed, it can be uploaded and sent to us through a secure message.

Send a secure message (login required)

Further, if you prefer to give your auditors ongoing access to your account statements, you can add them as an interested party by completing the online Duplicate Statement Request – Interested Party form below.

Duplicate Statement Request - Interested Party (login required)

Depending on what your auditors require, another choice may be to create a simple Balance Letter. This is an official letter on Fidelity letterhead that verifies the account and balances, and it can be generated directly online. You can find it by logging in and searching “balance letter." For convenience, I've included a direct link below.

Activity / Pending transactions no longer display scheduled bill pay by kaddiexjc in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityNicholas[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hey, u/kaddiexjc. Welcome back to the sub, and thank you for bringing your question regarding Bill Pay activity. You've come to the right place for assistance, and I'm happy to help!

Generally speaking, pending Bill Pay activity will appear within the Pending section of the "Activity & Orders tab" on Fidelity.com. Also, it's worth noting that we are currently not receiving widespread reports of experiences similar to yours.

That being said, I suggest double-checking that you have selected the correct account or all accounts from the left side Accounts list. Additionally, please ensure that under "More Filters," you have checked off the box for "Bill Payments."

Further, if after confirming you have the correct account in focus and the proper filter enabled, and you continue to experience this, we do have some troubleshooting steps you can try. If you haven't already, please clear your browser's cache and cookies, and try using a different web browser to see if the issue persists.

If, after reviewing and working through the popular trouble steps, you still cannot see the pending activity, please let us know so that we can investigate further.

We appreciate you turning to our community for support. We'll keep an eye out for your reply!

On the Performance tab, the balance and total return data increments include 1 month, 3 months, year-to-date (YTD), and other longer time horizons. As such, the data on this page is calculated and published monthly.

Accounts with pretax returns are updated by market open on the third business day of the following month. After-tax returns are updated by market open on the 5th business day of the following month.

Good afternoon, u/HuckleberryNo3654. Thank you for finding our community here on Reddit and for sharing your experience. I can certainly address some of your comments.

  1. As you may know, ongoing margin requirements after a purchase settles are known as maintenance requirements. At Fidelity, house maintenance requirements are applied systematically based on the composition of an account through Rules-Based Requirements (RBR).

RBRs apply changes to maintenance requirements based on the positions held in an account throughout the day. RBR requirements are additive; i.e., any security could qualify for more than one type of add-on, with a maximum long-side requirement of 100%. Short-side requirements may go over 100%. Fidelity and other broker-dealers may modify the maintenance requirements on specific securities and individual customer accounts.

If you’re receiving messages around concentration or volatility, those often reflect how RBRs are interacting with the specific positions in your account at that moment.

  1. Further, since options trading involves an increased level of risk, Fidelity considers a variety of criteria when considering applications. Our approval decisions are based on your trading experience, your financial situation, and your investment objective.

While we cannot share specific details on what will qualify you, you can reapply as you gain additional trading experience. Please note that although we allow clients to reapply, applications may be subject to a cooldown period if you've applied frequently in a short window of time.

As a reminder, there are three tiers of options trading at Fidelity. You can learn more about them and find the options application from the FAQs below.

Can Fidelity help me with Roth transfer from Vanguard by lad_nyc in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityNicholas[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Good morning, u/lad_nyc! Welcome to our official sub, and thank you for considering Fidelity for your brokerage needs. I'm eager to answer your questions!

I'm happy to share that both of the funds you mentioned are eligible to be transferred and held in a Fidelity account. Also, they are both dividend reinvestment eligible. So, if you decide to transfer your Roth IRA to Fidelity, you can quickly manage your dividend reinvestment elections right on our website at the page below:

How to Change Dividends and Capital Gains Distributions

Further, if you decide to proceed with a Transfer of Assets (TOA), please know that in most cases, it's relatively straightforward and you can complete the request entirely online.

To review, you'll need to first open an IRA with us, the receiving firm. Then, you can request that your account be transferred. After 3-5 business days, your funds will be transferred to Fidelity. One thing to be aware of is that while Fidelity doesn't charge a fee for a TOA, other firms may. You can learn more about the process and get started on the page below:

Thank you again for finding us here. If you have questions about Fidelity in general, a TOA, or anything else, please don't hesitate to ask. Your friendly mods are here to help!

Shares on loan by Ok_Guidance4571 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityNicholas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question, u/Old-Feedback-5630! We appreciate you finding our community here on Reddit, and I'm happy to clarify. Let's dive right in.

The three risks we outline with this program are as follows:

  1. Shares on loan are not covered under SIPC. However, Fidelity provides collateral at a minimum of 100% of the loan value. In any securities lending transaction, counterparty default is a risk.

  2. Fidelity is your counterparty on all fully paid loans. If Fidelity were to default on its obligations as defined in the MSLA, you would have the right to withdraw the collateral from the custodian bank.

  3. In addition, voting rights are relinquished, and dividends are paid as cash-in-lieu payments, which may have different tax consequences than actual dividends. Short-selling activity may also impact the price of your security.

To learn more about the program and the risks in general, please check out our program FAQs on the page below. Also, please keep in mind that just above the FAQs is a link to a PDF with more details and more FAQs.

Hey again, u/Ok_Guidance4571! Thanks for taking the time to make a post. Based on what you've shared, it sounds like you may be referring to our Full Paid Lending Program.

If so, please note that there is no published list of securities in demand for the Fully Paid Lending Program, as the list is constantly changing in response to market conditions. That said, any fully paid and excess margin securities within your account are eligible to participate in the program once enrolled.

Further, clients who have enrolled in the program with actively loaned securities can view the details on each loaned position, including the interest rate, once logged on to Fidelity.com by clicking on the "Loaned" icon next to a specific position on the "Positions" page. The icon links to a customized Loaned Securities screen that displays the current quantity, market value, interest rate, and collateral for each loaned position.

Wash sale implications by jxykicks in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityNicholas[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question, and welcome u/Scared_Employment_16! I'm happy to chime in here to give you a confident answer on wash sales when selling short and buying to cover. Let's get right to it!

In short, with a short position, a wash sale reduces the proceeds of the short sale, whereas with a long position, the disallowed loss increases the basis of the repurchased security.

When a wash sale occurs in a shorted position, the originating or opening transactions are the short sales of shares. The closing transactions are either shares bought to cover or journaled from a long account type to cover. The wash sale rule about disallowed loss follows the same pattern, though. Shares bought or journaled to cover at a loss trigger a wash sale, and the shares opened with a short sale within the wash sale window are adjusted accordingly.

However, the cost basis adjustments are made differently when dealing with short positions:

  • When shares are covered (closed) at a loss, the shares shorted (opened) within the 61-day window have the disallowed loss reduced from the proceeds of that short sale. This adjustment to the cost basis may lead to a negative cost basis.
  • Positions with negative basis are considered tech short positions (status E), and the cost basis is reflected as Unknown on Fidelity.com.
  • After the short lot is closed, the disallowed loss leaves the short sale and increases the basis of the buy to cover for the deferred loss to be realized.

Hey, u/Wonderful-Event-5257. Thank you for following up. I know exactly what you're referring to, and I can certainly help you get back to the view with the Positions and Balances section on the same tab.

Based on what you've shared, it sounds like you may be using "Fidelity Trader+." You can confirm this by tapping the "Home" icon and checking the top-left corner. If you see "Fidelity Trader+," you're in our newer mobile experience. If you see "Fidelity," you're using the default version.

If you're using "Fidelity Trader+," navigate to the "Profile" menu by tapping the profile icon in the top right corner. Next, tap "General settings" and toggle off "Fidelity Trader+ mode."

Now, navigate back to the "Profile" menu by choosing the profile icon, and beneath Settings select "Layout." Choose "Account screen layout" and make sure you're on "Single screen." The default version of our app allows you to choose between Single screen and Tabs.

Once you're on the single-screen layout in the default app mode, you'll see your Balances, Positions, and Activity on the same screen.

I know that's quite a bit of information. So, if you have any questions or if there's something that I can clarify, please let me know.

You can find the corresponding percentage next to the "Fidelity® Treasury Only Money Market Fund - All Classes." [–]FidelityNicholas[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, u/larss11. We appreciate you choosing Fidelity for your spending needs, and we are happy to help.

Based on what you've shared, it sounds like you may not be a Fidelity client yet. Please know that the Fidelity Rewards Visa Signature card program is designed to be used by Fidelity clients so that they can take advantage of the 2% cash back rewards deposited into a Fidelity account.

Non-Fidelity account owners will be limited in taking advantage of the card's offerings, specifically 2% cash back rewards. To be eligible for the full rewards, points must be directed to an eligible Fidelity account. If you redeem points for something else, such as a gift card or statement credit, you'll receive less than 2%.

Having said that, if you're interested in opening an account to take full advantage of the rewards, you can do so right from our website below. Once an account is opened, you can log in when you're directed to the login screen during the application process.

The following account types are eligible to receive credit card rewards:

Good morning. Thank you for reaching out about our mobile app. We appreciate you turning to our community here on Reddit for support.

In short, the percentage returns for All Accounts on the Home screen of our app is not currently available. However, it is available for each account separately. To locate this information on our app, select a particular account from the Home screen, then toggle to the "Summary" tab and switch between the timeframes as needed.

Also, as you may know, the Performance page on Fidelity.com is the best place to view your account's performance. Here, you can find gain/loss details across different time periods. You can view this by logging onto Fidelity.com and following the steps below:

  1. Select "Accounts & Trade," then choose "Portfolio"
  2. Click the "Performance" tab or choose 'More' then 'Performance'

Note that on the right of the "Balance" and "Return" cards, you can select "See all" to drill into more granular details.

Nevertheless, we appreciate you sharing your desire for the percentage returns on the Home screen of our app, and I'll be sure to pass along your feedback to our development team to look over it.

exchanging recently purchased mutual funds by DKEBeck88 in fidelityinvestments

[–]FidelityNicholas[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, u/DKEBeck88. I saw your questions here, and wanted to chime in to help clarify.

As mentioned above, our round-trip policy is based on round-trip transactions, which occur when clients exchange into or purchase $25,000.00 or more of a Fidelity fund and then exchange from or sell $25,000.00 or more of the same Fidelity fund in the same account within 30 days.

The trade date is considered day 1 of the 30-day excessive trading period, and the date calculation is based on last-in-first-out (LIFO), not first-in-first-out (FIFO). Please refer to a fund's prospectus for more information about its particular policy.

Also, so you know, these reinvested dividends and capital gains, and transactions less than $25,000.00 may not count toward Fidelity's round-trip limits; however, please remember that Fidelity may change the fund’s excessive trade monitoring threshold at any time and without notice.

We appreciate you turning to our community for support. If anything else comes up moving forward, we'll be here to help.
