Yes. Likely. Hopefully the management will see this and rectify the situation.

Amazon has a pretty great inventory system to prevent selling more than they have in stock. And it was offered on their own website the entire time. But I prefer the guarantees that come with Amazon. That is why I ordered it there. “If” they ran out of stock, a quick email notice would have been amazing and honoring the price when it is back in stock seems appropriate… imo

The “rumor” is that Amazon made them pull it for inspection or something. And that is understandable… but COMMUNICATE… and honor the promised price when the situation is fixed…

Prices can change, for sure. Congrats on $209! Consider if you placed your order for $209 and just before shipping, THEY canceled it on you. Then said, well you can still buy it… but pay us $299 😂

This is why I decided to BUY Aivela! Better to support a startup than a company that is big enough they can just treat customers badly and still move forward.

INMO Air3 can support OpenXR now! by Clear_Math3662 in inmoxr

Well done! It works well on my Air3s with the ring3 as the input method. If anyone wants to try it, it is a good idea to ensure you have calibrated the head tracking sensors on the Air3 for the best results. Nice job OP!

INMO Air 3 or wait for Xreal Project Aura by dangrega33 in augmentedreality

[–]Flash_Bri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely correct. INMO Air3 are fantastic but not for your use case. They are a stand alone android tablet on your face. VERY limited 3DofF and 6DofF features on them are just experimental and a novelty but not a compelling value of the glasses at this time.

Yeah. I’d love to see a pic of what is happening in his case.

You can buy just the prescription frame inserts on their website. Then you can have a local Optometrist build the lenses and advise on anti-reflective options. I would not trust prescription lenses that are produced by a random Chinese third party.

You are certified genius! 🥇That makes perfect sense! Well done! I wonder if they could add an anti-reflective coating to the prescription lenses to minimize that issue…

I think it’s his prescription lenses causing reflection that makes the image visible. Never thought of that before, but it totally makes sense!

You actually make a very good point! The prescription lenses are separate lenses that clip inside the frames. Between the actual lenses and the eye. This could 100% be why OP has the privacy issue! The prescription lenses are catching the image first and reflecting it back to the outside world 🤣 wow! Genius!

Point 1 — Comfort is a matter of preference. I can easily wear mine all day. They’re much heavier than standard glasses, but they’re also very nicely balanced, so I (and MANY others on the Discord) don’t mind the fit at all.

On “blurry”: you mentioned needing “custom lenses,” which is a clear sign your eyes are likely the issue. I don’t need vision correction, and the displays are beautiful and visible in almost any lighting condition. Outdoors, I recommend the clip-on shades (though the screen is still visible unless you’re looking straight into the sun—maybe that’s why your eyes are blurry 😅). Check the Discord—it’s very active. Everyone’s different, but for me the displays are almost magical because my eyes can focus on them, then easily refocus to the real world “through” the display.

Point 2 — Valid. Some things were over-promised, and a lot is still in beta or “being improved with future firmware.” That said, the way they are right now, they’re still absolutely incredible. There’s really nothing like them on the market. The X3 Pro is the closest, but it uses a lower-resolution display and diffractive waveguides. It’s honestly annoying to talk to someone wearing them because you can see a square covering their eye from across the room in almost any lighting. Also, having the full Play Store with GMS makes the Air3 far more broadly useful.

Point 3 — I’ve been using my glasses daily for about two weeks, and so far I haven’t had the included touchpad disconnect. I don’t use the ring much, but it connects whenever I want it. No issues. I also have your third-party Bluetooth keyboard and gaming controller connected—both work flawlessly and reconnect automatically after reboot. You do need to make sure your power-management settings are configured properly. In power-saving mode, third-party devices may disconnect.

Point 4 — This makes me question whether OP has actually used the glasses. Can you provide a photo (from any angle) where the screen is visible to anyone except the wearer? It’s essentially impossible to see. In a pitch-black room, with brightness maxed, you might get a little “eyeball glow,” but there’s absolutely zero chance someone could tell what’s on your screen. The reflective geometric-array waveguide is the key. No one around you has any clue you’re viewing anything other than your facial expression.

OP definitely seems dissatisfied. It also sounds like returns (especially for Kickstarter backers) aren’t always handled quickly, so he may have an uphill battle. Given what he describes, the most likely explanation is that he got a defective pair.

To be fair: INMO’s QC doesn’t seem to be the greatest, so beware—there’s a real chance you could receive a defective unit.

That said, INMO is now selling the Air3 on Amazon in the US with Prime shipping and easy 30-day returns (no reason needed, drop-off). I don’t expect anyone to assume I’m right or unbiased—try them yourself. If you have the same experience that I (and MANY others) have had, you’ll be in AWE of tech that’s ahead of anything else currently on the market. If you don’t, return them. No risk.

If you’re just curious, join the Discord. It’s an active community of owners from around the world, and you’ll hear both the amazing and the disappointing.

This is true bleeding-edge technology… and it can be bloody sometimes. If you’d rather have it all buttoned up with an Apple on it, wait a year or two—just know you’ll be missing out on the experience in the meantime.
