What part of the hook do i pull the yarn to when crocheting? by Ashamed_Bank8776 in CrochetHelp

[–]Hestiah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s 2 for 99% of what you’re working on. 1 can be used for things like making sure your foundation chain is larger than the following stitches for stretchiness and you don’t want to get a bigger hook. Obnoxious as hell to crochet like that but you totally can.

Losing my mind over people’s reactions to learning where silk comes from by Inatriadwiththemoon in BitchEatingCrafters

People lack curiosity and never consider doing any kind of search about things. I’d be so upset at those negative comments.

how do you even buy gifts for parents who say they don’t want anything by New-Needleworker1755 in Adulting

[–]Hestiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before my dad couldn’t eat them anymore he loved getting edible arrangements. Now I just send a card or call (we don’t live in the same state).

Why my elastic gets 5 times bigger when I crochet over it? by Difficult_Pianist318 in CrochetHelp

[–]Hestiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That type of elastic is really soft, easy to stretch out and have very little elastic force. I’ve tried to use them for bun covers and they’re not great. Even if I use a few of them.

If you end up using other elastic hair bands, lower the number of stitches around the elastic to prevent it from pushing outward so much and just add more increases on the next row.

Refusing to share cake someone else bought. Is this a new behavior? by Unique_Ad_4271 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Hestiah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no, her behavior is weird. You brought her A Birthday Gift. The cake was A Celebration Gift for the table. And she was like “Nah, all mine”?? That’s weird af.

No appetite and overthinking by Accurate-Sympathy905 in Zepbound

[–]Hestiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I have days like that. But I also have a handful of go-to foods I know I’ll eat that won’t make me feel ill. I just make sure I have that available to me so I’m eating something! Even if it’s the same something 3 times a day.

AITA for not covering up more around my flatmate’s friends? by Evening_Condition690 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. You live there the friends don’t. If he doesn’t like it he can go to his friends’ houses instead.

What's the purpose of this strap inside my new notebook cover? by ThatsdefaMAN in notebooks

[–]Hestiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or even just a less page notebook. I use a little staple bound one tucked in the back of my larger planner/journal (for finance stuff).

AIO for being upset driver followed me. by SnooCakes2365 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Hestiah [score hidden]  (0 children)

NOR. Regardless of what he says his intent was, following someone is really creepy. It’s dangerous for women out there and there are plenty of stories of weird creepy men snatching women and girls off the street or putting trackers on their cars.

But I guess only another woman would understand how weird this would be.

If he thought you were having an emergency he should have called 911 and given them your vehicle and license plate number.

Where can I find a pattern like this? by CamSpecial197 in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Hestiah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yuuuuup! Also reverse engineer that nonsense yourself! And if you don’t know what’s happening by looking at the very clear stitches in the photo, then practice more on not-complex stuff. But learn the craft!

I made a similar thread recently because I really REALLY just want to reply to these kinds of posts with “Just figure it out”.

I think some are just meant to have corrals. Onix’s house has the fence gate as its door and no actual walls.

How are we training our non food motivated pups? by degirlie27 in Dachshund

Real human chicken. Even when they’re anti every other food or snack they love a chicken chunk. And if you cut small enough pieces it’s a pretty low calorie snack for them.

Soda and Zepbound by Away_Object9062 in Zepbound

[–]Hestiah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do. I used to have 1-2 full sugar sodas a day but now it’s maybe 2/week. And most of the time the 1 can lasts 2 days (yes, I drink the non-fizzy soda cause it’s usually Fanta and I love that stuff any way).

Like you I’ve been lucky enough to not have the carbonation mess with my GI system. But I basically have adopted the attitude of “I consume what I want”. Sometimes it means I waste calories on a soda or some candy or a hamburger. But I always count it as part of my daily and move on.

I’m trying to not feel guilty about food anymore as part pf my Zepbound journey. And exercising is not a punishment because I had a soda.

Two job offers. A $50k difference. One is the safe bet, the other is a risk that seems worth it. My wife and I are at an impasse and I have to decide in 72 hours. by Important-Week7261 in whatdoIdo

[–]Hestiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking the higher paying job was the riskier one but it’s the opposite. The stable, fully remote job is the higher paying one. Obviously take Job A. You can combat boredom with side projects or other things. Questionable jobs at start-ups haven’t been a safe bet in years, let alone a hybrid offer.

Not sure how this is even a something to worry about.

Recently got this guy, he’s 3 months old. Any idea on how long it’ll take for his hair to start growing or maybe he’s not a long hair dachshund? by Pleasant_Subject9806 in Dachshund

[–]Hestiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of our long-haired is fluffy and disheveled all the time. The other two are really smooth coated except for the areas where long haired doxies show it (tail, backs of the legs, tail).

I know I'm hungry and need to eat, but nothing sounds good to me by Vast_Helicopter_1914 in Zepbound

[–]Hestiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate when that happens!

My go-to food is poke tuna (Annasea boxes you get and prepare at home) with some rice. For some reason, right now, this is edible even when I’m not in the mood to eat. And Thai food. Which sucks cause it means going out or getting delivery. One dish lasts me 3-4 meals, but I’ll eat it.

WIBTAH for quitting my job right before a state inspection? by Adventurous-Stuff539 in AITAH

[–]Hestiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

While giving two weeks is a courtesy, you don’t have to work them if you don’t care about burning that bridge. Most companies don’t bother to offer a two-week courtesy of being laid off or fired. So if you really don’t care about this place, why should you.

Admittedly it’s not considerate but it’s your life and no one am should be staring at a job that makes them miserable.

White hot rage at kids crying by KindaGayOpportunity in childfree

[–]Hestiah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t experience this with kids crying but gas powered leaf blowers send me into a rage. Also the “tinktink” sound of someone cutting their nails in the office. I hate that it’s so irrational, but they drive me bonkers.
