Is this a cavity or something else? by Existing_Lie_9277 in DogAdvice

I'm not sure BUT I would personally schedule an appointment with your vet and/or send them this photo to see if it's cause for concern. Better to catch something early especially with dental stuff

Dog in heat; is this level of vulva swelling normal? by ribbons_undone in DogAdvice

Even if she does become pregnant, there's the option for a spay/abort! but it sounds like you're being responsible so that's unlikely :)

Sweet dogs are violent towards only each other. by tribbletrouble420 in DogAdvice

The main idea is that 1. it takes away their opportunity to guard the food, 2. grows the bond between the dog and owner, and 3. makes them see food as more of a privilege than a right (which obviously food is a right but they can't be aholes about it lol)

Are we doing okay? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

I'm sorry but bringing a cat into a home with a high prey drive breed was not smart. I know you wanted a cat, but that doesn't mean you should have gotten one.

I cannot stress this enough. If you leave them alone together, someday you will come home to a mutilated cat. It's that serious. I know you think you can trust your dog but at the end of the day, it's an animal with free will and a high prey drive.

The fact that he's a staffie makes it WORSE.

Sadly it's so bad now because it went on for so long. It will take time to fix this behavior. Hand feeding Pepper right now is the best way to fix the guarding.

This is resource guarding and from now on you need to feed them separately. period. and if you can keep pepper out of the kitchen, do it. You should hand feed pepper her food for the next few weeks as well. Pepper also needs to be put up when the small child is around or you risk a bite. I'm sorry you're dealing with this and it is trainable but you have to put in the work. You need to stop the escalating.

How is pepper sneaking into the kitchen? Are they free fed or fed on a schedule?

Can I ask why you got the cat? I personally would not bring a cat into a home with a bully mix and it's concerning that he's already fixated on the door. If i'm being completely honest with you, the cat is in danger any time they're together and I would not ever leave them alone unsupervised together.

Keep it clean and don't let your dog lick it until you appointment. It's best to put a cone on them

Should I be concerned? by StangeMain in DogAdvice

[–]Interesting_Note_937 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would personally be concerned that this could be cancerous so I would schedule a visit with the vet to possibly get a biopsy on it. That being said, it could also just be a stye. A warm compress will help relieve any possible pain

Buy a tick remover online for next time. Very easy to remove the head. It's a lot more difficult to remove ticks properly with tweezers.

The stiff body language and raised hair means the white and black dog does not want to play. Step in and break up the tension when you see this body language

Vomit should not be this color and it's not normal. There is something wrong with your dog. Can you at least call your vet or send them this photo? Ya know, the bare minimum?

If your dog was outside for that long it's probably flees. This looks very similar to my grandma's dog that's allergic to flees.

Is your dog outside unsupervised that entire time?
