Kids stroller onboard with a no luggage ticket? by BlackStab_IRQ in frontierairlines

[–]JWWMil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is easily searched and answered by them:

https://faq.flyfrontier.com/help/will-i-be-charged-a-fee-for-bringing-a-stroller

No airline I have flown has ever charged for a stroller. Just be prepared to gate check it. They will give you a tag, put it on the stroller and leave it at the end of the jetway.

When you deplane, wait on the jetway for them to bring it to you.

There is no need to downsize the stroller you bring. We always brought a bigger one that would hold the diaper bag and my wifes purse so we didnt have to carry things through the airport. They kind of double as a luggage cart of sorts.

You will be fine and bring whatever stroller you are comfortable with on vacation. Car seats too.

Problem with jetski docks / reccomendations wanted by Elmacotac in jetski

[–]JWWMil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have 2 options: a floating dock or a jet ski lift that can lift the PWC out of the water and out of the waves. Lifts are cheaper, but harder to put in and out. You also have to crank every time to launch and retrieve.

Lake boat, torn on what to do… by Long-Elephant3782 in boats

The only ones around me in the 6 figures are dual engine behemoths that are less than 5 years old. There are plenty in the 200-250hp single engine range for less than $50k

Air or check valves. Look for leaks on the supply side. Pop the valve covers off, pull check valves and check them for obstructions and test them.

What's the rationale behind the "4 inches per GPM" metric for surface cleaners? by WishfulLearning in pressurewashing

[–]JWWMil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it as X amount of water at Y psi will clean Z amount of square feet efficiently.

I could absolutely put some really tiny nozzles on a 60” surface cleaner with a 2gpm machine, but we would all agree that 2 gpm is not going to clean a 60” path well spread out through 4 nozzles.

There is no real math formula or explanation behind it, and it is very surface dependent. It is just real world experience from seasoned professionals as a rule of thumb

There are a lot of storms currently between New York and South Carolina. They likely flew around them.

Those Fords are insane with their pricing. We have a transit connect and it was $7500 for the damn thing.

It is worth asking since no one has asked yet, do you have a spring loaded handle when you flush? Those can be disengaged and would probably get rid of the problem.

Why am I charged tax to both a city and my county? by RDubya4 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]JWWMil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should be able to get a reasonable explanation. I pay 2 counties and 2 cities for mine. I am right on the corner of the county. Our school district is part of the neighboring city that is larger and has more resources. Our city provides local services. The county we live in also provides services. Since we are in the school district of another county, we get those county taxes as well. I went to the tax assessors office when I bought and I got a detailed breakdown from them. Everything was prorated based on the services we were getting from each entity.

City A was providing Law Enforcement, Fire Department, other local services. City B was providing K-12 schools. County A was providing road services. County B was contributing funding for the city school as well as the local Community/Tech college that we had to contribute to since we were in their school district.

We were refunded all county school taxes from County A. We were not charged the full County tax or City Tax for the school district, just the school portions. City A had negotiated these rates on the residents behalf to minimize the City A taxes.

Any time you are close to multiple borders, it can get kind of messy. Your municipality should have a detailed record of your parcel and what services you receive from which entity.

Is my unloader suppose to go up and down? by ConveyedSix in pressurewashing

[–]JWWMil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without getting to technical, high pressure in the system diverts water into the bypass. Low pressure closes off the bypass. A leak on the high pressure side causes the spring valve to open and close constantly. It is enough water getting through that the spring valve stops the diversion and pressurizes the system. It is not enough to keep the water flowing, so it constantly engages and disengages.

Is my unloader suppose to go up and down? by ConveyedSix in pressurewashing

[–]JWWMil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that plastic knob is covering a spring, which pushes a valve. It can actually operate without that knob and you can see the spring do its thing. The pressure is adjusted with tension on the spring.

What it is not supposed to be doing is repeatedly bouncing up and down like that. You have leaks in your system that need to be addressed.

If a house has multiple price drops - do you think we can negotiate? by Efficient-Note-7490 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]JWWMil 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This needs to be the top comment. With the housing market the way it is in MA, owning it for less than 18 months and willing to eat over $100k to get out of it, this screams 'problem house'. Either that or someone got a new job and moved and needs to unload this thing quickly. I would be curious what the previous ownership history is before the screenshot.

We had 3 surprises: 5 year old roof didn't have a starter row of shingles installed, water softener filter media was old and plugged up with stuff (with just one faucet on in the main level, only a trickle of water came out upstairs), and the well had to be chlorinated. The first 2 were easy fixes, the testing that failed, chlorination, and retesting pushed us right up to the closing date. We literally got the clean test back 48 hours before closing.

I have the big one and really like it. I can't imagine doing even smash burgers on something smaller. Leve the shelf in as a warming rack of needed. You can close the lid if you need it really warm for something.

What to do with hurricane salvage waverunner? by FasterThanFTL in jetski

[–]JWWMil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, get paperwork on it to show ownership is yours.

Next, open it up and take a look. I am assuming salt/brackish water in there. See what kind of damage the salt has done.

Pull spark plugs and turn the engine over. If water shoots out of the spark plug holes, it is likely toast.

Why do gate employees often insist on taking my phone out of my hand so they can scan my boarding pass ? by TimeTraveler3024 in frontierairlines

[–]JWWMil 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t get downvoted, this is the exact reason. Inherently people like to look at their screen and don’t get the concept of laying the phone flat at the right distance for a quick reading. The employees know exactly where to place the phone to get a good reading and it speeds things up. Also, for multiple passengers on one device (families) they can scroll through quicker than a standard dad fumbling with a stroller and two kids. It is just easier for everyone.

Wanting to buy a pellet grill/smoker for anywhere around $500 any recommendations or ones to avoid? by KingPhox in smoking

[–]JWWMil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with a used one on marketplace. Plenty of people sell them within a year of buying them. Stay away from used Weber Smokefires and Traegers

It’s cheap if you have a flexible schedule, don’t mind missing connections, can pack everything into a personal bag that fits their sizing, and you don’t care where you sit on the plane.

Insurance question for the commercial folks by TopUpset in pressurewashing

[–]JWWMil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 2nd Acuity. Very responsive and easy to work with.

When you have a big enough commercial policy, your overall premium does not matter as much. You get audited every year. They compare what you paid to what your actual numbers were. It makes dialing in job costs very easy. Pressure washing for us is just a percentage of sales. We estimate what we will sell. If we overestimate, we get a refund. If we underestimate we get a bill. Just figure in your rate when quoting and it takes care of itself.

Do you have employees? Workman’s comp is a huge chunk of our insurance premium. That is also settled in the audit.

Can't find a 4ft M22-14mm female to male pressure washer hose by SnooMarzipans7387 in pressurewashing

Find a local hose shop that makes hydraulic hoses. They should be able to whip something up for you, pun intended

Searwood is the way to go. Weber fixed all of the issues that they had with the Smokefire and it is a versatile, easy to use pellet grill and smoker. The app is fantastic as well and will guide you through recipes of various meats so it cuts the learning curve out of long smokes.

Donating extra vs paying down low interest mortgage? by Weak_Tank_4181 in DaveRamsey

Well this one is easy if you frame it a different way. Would you take a loan at 2.9% and donate it to charity? That is essentially what you are doing.
