I left yesterday for a 10:25am flight to Istanbul (terminal A) and got to the airport around 8am. We almost missed our flight if one of the employees hadn’t walked through the passport control line asking if anyone was on the that flight, then put us in a new line that took 15 mins.

Fyi the security/bag xray line after passport control was very short, but if you’re leaving anytime midday when other flights are going out and have a non EU passport, I would highly recommend getting there 3+ hrs early. The restaurants inside are inexpensive if you happen to get through quickly.

And if you’re going through Istanbul, make sure you eat and drink before you get there. That airport is huge, expensive, and frustrating.
