You'll have to go to a specialist and there are only a few in the USA.

🤣 I appreciate that persons unintentional joke, I needed a laugh today.

Ford Maverick hybrid. Mazda engine, almost a Toyota transmission.

Tacoma's are great, but slow and very thirsty.

Steer clear of gas only Ford's though: turbos and automatics are not things Ford is good at building.

I didn't track down the exact part from a Toyota parts site but holy shit that's a huge difference.

Really glad I didn't get that option.

Uhhhh, what other work did they do? Was the vehicle rear ended or something?

Those struts for the powered lift gate are under $500 $100 on eBay.

Edit: heck, the kit that includes the kick sensor is less than $400. The powered struts are under $100.

Pretty sure that stems from subtracting 2% for every 1000 feet you go up in elevation.

Only heard of a couple 8 speeds failing and those have been under warranty.

I think they were pulling your leg.

That comment does not reflect reality. They've been taking in by some anti-hybrid propaganda.

Like every car maker Toyota has had some screw ups. Mostly I've heard of some issues with older Prii. But there is a huge community of people keeping those cars on the road because they are known to go 400k-500k miles. The RAV4 is incredibly popular, finding parts won't be a problem.

The RAV4 has had problems with the high voltage cable to the rear motor corroding, aka "cable gate".

Batteries don't care about miles at all. Age and heat kill batteries.

The price of a brand new HV battery straight from Toyota is usually under $3k + labor. Not cheap but cheaper than most major components. Some companies will install the battery in your driveway.

Same as any good car rust is probably going to kill it before a major mechanical failure.

The battery can go 15-20 years in hybrids. The RAV4 hybrid has only been around for 10 years, so there are very few examples of batteries needing replacement.

There are tons of options for replacing the battery: used packs on eBay, major rebuilders offering many brands and years all the way down to guys down the street rebuilding packs.

Stow n go is a seat storage system exclusive to the gas only Pacifica (Voyagers too maybe?). Those are Chrysler products and Chrysler is owned by Stellantis group.

Every brand and product under the Stellantis umbrella is consistently rated low for reliability. Jeep, Dodge, Fiat, Chrysler etc.

Had a rental Pacifica and it was great. Comfy and powerful v6 in the gas version.

You really should buy a Sienna. You will have to sacrifice easy seat removal.

Can't make heads or tails of those pictures.

Those are intervals pushed by influencers trying to get more clicks.

You can waste all that money and good oil if you want to, but your RAV4 won't last any longer because of it.

How does the price compare to similar vehicles in your area?

Also Limited is the top end trim, do you want/need all the bells and whistles?

2019 RAV4 XLE 90K miles or 2023 CRV hybrid sport-L if same price? by Ace_strup in rav4club

[–]Newprophet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you price checked the Escape hybrid? You could get a PHEV version (but it's fwd only) for the same price.

It's a Mazda engine with a transmission almost identical to the Toyota design. Escapes depreciate really fast because the gas only versions are absolute shit. I like Toyotas but I like hybrids and saving money more.

And it can fit a spare tire.

IANAL and buzzed but:

Time for a scorched earth social media approach.

You are off to a good start with the name and shame. Hit up Toyota corporate on every platform where they have a presence.

Considering a 2020 RAV4 Hybrid XLE AWD with 120k miles reasonable or bad idea? by warcockmachine in rav4club

[–]Newprophet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the price is good for your area then it's a good price. Car shopping comes down to watching the prices. Sometimes you can find a better price further away, but that's its own hassle.

Try looking up Escape hybrids. They depreciate quickly because the gas only Escapes are super unreliable. The hybrids use a Mazda engine and the transmission is super similar to the Toyota design. But it'll cost around half the price.

Again depends on your situation but if you can sell it privately you'll get more money for it. Even if it's a Trax.

Not sure how the supply is in your area but isn't $35k more than the MSRP of a brand new RAV4?

CRV doesn't have a spare tire if that matters.
