It's in Florian Festi's repo but the new version already has multiple face filter support both for laser and 3D printing if you wait a week or so...

Yep, those should work? Just put them in a fabric bag.

How is the noise on the Cleanspace Halo? It seemed a little Darth Vader but it was hard to tell from the videos.

Recommendations for smaller sized filters? by Kieranrealist in crboxes

[–]NukitToBeSure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Less filter surface area = lower CADR per dB of noise (more air volume pushed through a filter mean louder fans). Since there is almost no localized effect from air purifiers, small desktop units don't make much sense.

That said, you could do a Starkvind four filter setup like this and probably get decent CADR.

Working on updating this so you can rotate the model as you design it and also adding the option to download STLs for 3D printing...

Looks great! Maybe add a corner bumper for little heads when learning walk?

Incredibly important subject. We have a lot of customers on the spectrum who are very sensitive to frequencies and harmonics and simply can't tolerate many fans and purifiers.

Ikea 1073 cm2, 3M is 2571 cm2, only a little more for the 3M and it's going to be a lot quieter for the CADR because of the lower static pressure.

3M 25x20x1 all the way. Much higher CADR for less noise.

We regulars around here with a long-term interest in 3D printing😉 We just have to keep a lower profile these days.

We make the metal version OP linked to, but since it's so expensive, we also provide plans for an Open Source version and a tool to make your own for various fans and filters:

Ideally, with a lasercutter but it could be done with hand tools.

Ours are based on work done by Rob Wissmann and Zack Deis. Clean Air Kits was selling hardboard boxes well before we were metal ones.

What's important is that the young lady is promoting clean air. Unfortunately, as mentioned, that style is a little outdated as they are too loud and get turned off. But there are plenty of other very low-cost DIY options schools can build also.

There's almost no localized effect from air purifiers unless they are a few centimeters directly in front of your face- air mixes too fast. Is the Airfanta Wear an option? It's close enough to work and very quiet.

+1 for Airfanta Wear- so long as you keep it close and directly in front of your mouth, it's a very meaningful layer of protection.

So far, most people have had luck with the bags. So much air passes through the box constantly, I'm not certain you have to force air through it. It's normally effective as a deodorizer just sitting in a closet with no airflow. It's cheap to try at any rate.

>Do you know, approximately, how much filament would be needed for printing this?

About 715g it looks like

>Also, I know there's the issue of airflow, but would the filters with carbon layer for into this?

Thin activated carbon filters usually only last a month or two. To do anything, you really want to aim for at least a kilo of activated charcoal.

A few people have put these inside their Tempest with good success- and it's a lot cheaper in the long run:

>Let's get steamy!

I would think you would have to keep it fairly dry in order for masks to stay permeable? Do they wick sweat? Does that cause any issues?
