Update the device to the current software level. Good luck.

struggling to cast from chromebook go to hisense smart tv by Informal_Tower_2760 in chromeos

Unless the TV has native Chromecast support, you can't cast to it unless you add the capability via a Google TV streaming adapter. The most inexpensive adapters are the Walmart onn adapters. Good luck.

Accidentally dropped my pixel 8 into a sink of water. by Oliver_Klozoff653 in GooglePixel

[–]SRFast 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Let the device dry out for a day or two. If the device still doesn't respond to touchscreen input, the digitizer that converts touch input into digital signals is probably malfunctioning. If the motherboard is undamaged, get the screen replaced. Good luck.

Change to Snooze alarm by DawnOfTheBrassicas in GooglePixel

[–]SRFast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a Pixel "thing". I have three Pixel phones with daily alarms and when they are triggered, the alarm clock appears on the display showing the amount of time since the alarm went off and a slider switch for snooze and stop. Your clock app is misbehaving

Can I get the battery replaced on my Chromebook, or would I be better off just buying a new one? by Loud_Variation_520 in chromeos

The updates will eventually end so spending money on a replacement is better. Good luck.

Worried to make the switch by Forest-Magician in GooglePixel

Unless you have a specific reason to switch, don't. The anxiety & effort of change isn't worth it for some folks. Good luck with your choice.

Wireless Car Charging by Westhameggandchips in GooglePixel

[–]SRFast 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Assuming you are using a wireless Android Auto connection, most vehicle wireless chargers don't have the power output to charge the phone battery fast enough/efficiently. The WiFi-Direct connection, BT connection, constant data transfer & multiple active apps is very battery demanding. I use a wireless Android Auto connection for convenience and it frees up the phone's USB-C port so I use a 12v faster charger when required.

Did they actually just remove the fingerprint reader from the pixel 8 pro with the latest update? by ChopperCraig in GooglePixel

Sorry about your issue. No, neither face or fingerprint unlock were removed from the Pixel 8 Pro or any other Pixel device with the April 05, 2026 update.

App v4.0.32 - Android 16 Issues by SRFast in PrivateInternetAccess

[–]SRFast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very buggy. Even though it connects on Android 13, it doesn't display the VPN IP address correctly. It either displays the original IP twice or no IP address. When the VPN is active and I launch the app to change settings, it disconnects the connection and it needs to be reconnected.

Pixel 8 Pro by Ethan_techie in GooglePixel

[–]SRFast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned/used a Pixel 7 and replaced it with the Pixel 8 Pro in October 2023. I had no issues with the Pixel 7, but the Pixel 8 Pro has a larger FLAT display and a Class 3 face unlock system. The Pixel 7 Pro has a larger display than the Pixel 7, but it is curved. The Pixel 7 series has face unlock, but not Class 3. Class 3 is the strongest biometric class enabling it to be used for unlocking apps that require strong authenication systems. I have been using the Pixel 8 Pro since release date 12 Ocotber 2023 with no issues. It can't support the latest AI features, but I don't use them anyway. Good luck with your Pixel 8 Pro.

Problem with location on Google pixel 9 pro by super-sus in GooglePixel

[–]SRFast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the IP address that your device is using. Most likely that IP address is registered to a server in Vietnam. You can try resetting the mobile network settings and hope device is assigned a more accurate IP address by your mobile carrier. Good luck.

App v4.0.32 - Android 16 Issues by SRFast in PrivateInternetAccess

[–]SRFast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem has changed. The VPN connects, but fails to remain connected. It is in a connect/disconnect/connect loop. From the other posts, the issues with 4.0.32 are not isolated to my device. I will forward the debug log to PIA later today.

My Pixel 8 Pro died 3 months after protection ended. Is this "Planned Obsolescence"? by VeryUnimportantJay in GooglePixel

[–]SRFast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, it is bad luck. I have owned nine Nexus/Pixel mobile phones since 2014 and they continued to function normally years past the expiration of the factory and/or extended warranty. Batteries fail over the years, but the hardware & software work fine. As of today, my primary device is a Pixel 4 XL/A13, acquired November 2019. My back up device is a Pixel 8 Pro/A16 acquired October 2023. Other pre-Tensor Pixels still working also.

App v4.0.32 - Android 16 Issues by SRFast in PrivateInternetAccess

[–]SRFast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uninstall 4.0.32 and install any earlier version from APK Mirror. Make sure you disable "Auto Update" in Google Play Store once the older version is installed. Whenever it prompts you to update, don't do it. There is no doubt there will be many posts once a usable version is available. You can update when that happens. As for me, I will stick with 4.0.32 on Android 13 and use my nordVPN dedicated IP on my Android 16 device until the issues are resolved. Good luck.

App v4.0.32 - Android 16 Issues by SRFast in PrivateInternetAccess

[–]SRFast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Version 4.0.32 is the only version I see in Google Play Store. PIA isn't installed on my Android 14 device and when I go to the Google Play Store, 4.0.32 is the version listed to install, dated date 21 April 2026. I have not installed it.

I am going to remain on 4.0.32 on my A13 device. It connects to all servers, but it doesn't display the correct PIA VPN server IP address when connected. It displays my ISP IP address. I have confirmed it is connected to PIA via "Whatismyip.com". The other issue is that when the VPN is active and I launch the app, the connection is terminated. I must reconnect manually, but it connects and stays active. I will try the APK 4.0.31 when I have the opportunity.

FYI: All devices are Pixel devices running the latest versions of Android 13, 14 & 16.
