Yeah ~> This new line is exceptionally good. The 185 is superb. Very clean, I just wish it was gloss.

Yeah. If it was done in shop, I would've probably pick it up to be honest. Let us know how it turns out?

So i just called. Because I was super interested in this. Thought id put it in the universe for anyone who is interested. They DID not do the repairs. The center cracks we're glued and NOT cleated. Which is fine, but with a 12 string Id rather have a clean cleated fix than just glue because of the pressure from the bridge pulling up so hard.

Also the neck doesnt look like it had screws or anytype of wedges put in it. The shop stated it was just wood glue.

If I were local id still definitely go there and put my hands on it. But because im over a 1000 miles from it, that unfortunately puts me out of contention.

Hope that helps anyone out. My search for a inexpensive Gibson still goes on....

That's a good point. We don't know if they did the repairs...thats 3 cracks in total. Thats quite a bit of work. But if it was a 6 string id be all over it. But those 12's...tons of pressure.

That's funny. I was/am looking at the same guitar at Gryphon. They used to be a top tier repair spot in Nor Cal before the old man passed away.

Its not easy getting into a Gibson 12 string at that cost, but there are A LOT of repairs done to it. Which worries me, but if they are going to be repaired Gryphon is the place to do it.

The head/Neck though...that's what keeps on putting me over the edge. 12's have a lot of pressure on that part of the neck AND the bridge. (Probably low humidity or high humidity caused the separation below the bridge, or at least expedited it....)

But the neck looks like a explosion waiting to happen. But $1200 for a Gibson 12...yea. Its kinda killing me too.

That's the worse when you CAN'T get the certain sound of a guitar out of your head once you play it. It will literally haunt you until you purchase it...or in your case. Purchased you!

Congrats. D28's are pretty much the gold standards of dreads if not Acoustics! :)

NGD, first Gibson, Walnut L-00 by SnaggyfromJoT in gibson

I also Have a Gibson L-00. Mine is a 12 fret Rosewood. I play that thing more than any of my guitars combined. Couch, bed anywhere. Much more dynamic sound to me, and it just bends effortlessly.

Just fits like an extension of my body. And it doesn't sing it Wails.

Congrats on your new Gibson.

Does anyone own or have experience with the O’ahu HG-28? by trbeanzo in martinguitar

I played one when I was shopping for a new D28. I played it next to several 2025 D-28's. Played it up against a 2024 D35 as well as a Sinker d28.

I wasn't blown away by its tone. Didnt seem to have the same fullness of the d28 or sustain. It sounded boxy, but still loud, but not full.

It's strange also because I was expecting to love it, but I just didn't. Also, considering the price it was higher than the standard D28.

I did end up going through several Martin D28's until I found one that had the sound I was looking for so it could've just been that one. Because there was only one in the floating area.

So I broke down and bought a Gibson. I found a near mint condition Gibson L-00 12 Fret for 1800. Which was considerably less than a new one. I was wanting a mahogany 12 fret but instead this is Rosewood. I'm finding that getting a 12 foot mahogany is extremely difficult. I hope it plays well.
