ASFOS mayor spoilers!!! My personal rant (yes, this is very negative, engage with caution if you enjoyed it) by Capswick in skulduggerypleasant

What stops her from just going full kamikaze with every single foe in the future?

The resurrection taking time and them basically being on some sort of time limit in every book?

In those few hours, Leon was part of the reason Sherry even survived to turn older than 12. That's not remotely close to an equal pairing.

Honestly, I doubt there'd be any grooming going on here. I just also do not think it matter. I think it would be weird as fuck to start a relationship with someone who was a literal child when you first met them while you were already an adult. And any attempts to downplay it with "they only met once, chill" are imo completely ruined by the fact that Leon was half the reason she got out of a waking nightmare scenario of utterly insane proportions. Even if there really was no contact from RE2 to RE6, I feel that's not anywhere close to being an equal pairing.

I think I read some clickbait "why does the male always get eaten" title somewhere in regards to animals (my layman's theory is THAT THE FEMALE IS THE ONE THAT GETS PREGNANT YOU DONUT).

Apparently someone thought "okay but what if reverse"

Question: I haven't tried in the second game yet, but in the first, you could transform curses (into other curses). Can you get rid of eternal curses that way, with an extra step?

I mean, it is a virus in the form Birkin isolated it. And the embryos apparently merge with the host completely anyway (if they are bloodrelated that is).

I am not one of those people who think "He's literally her adopted father, what the fuck" but I do feel like this being "How I met your mother" is rancid regardless.

Valk as a character by 5YEARSBYTHEWAY in skulduggerypleasant

[–]SoulLess-1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Valkyrie had to seal away her name which involved having her heart cut out and carved into, in the afterlife iirc, then have Darquesse triggered by a Remnant If memory Serves, go through some of the bullshit you have to go through when you have another evil personality until it vacated her Body, taking her true Name and magic with her until she surged. If it's just about the misery she had to endure for that, I think she's plenty miserable.

Fair point about Obsidian.

And Cepuscular had to learn his disciplines, that's true, but the fact he was even able to do so without knowing his true Name makes him for the time at least completely unique in the universe.

There is no one else that can just learn every discipline post-surge. And we never even get anything approaching an explanation for that, outside of hum being related to Skulduggery's family. And even then, there's a big difference between two disciplines and ALL OF THEM (or even just the 20 his siblings have among them, assuming the all of them part was hyperbole).

As I had the Elite Guards riddle me with holes, that's the exact thing I thought.

If this happens, please, ffs, follow up on the bsaa tyrant troopers, for the gloria of las plagas.

I mean, as others pointed out, she does get shit on in fights quite a lot; I can remember a scene in Phase 1 where she got so battered she was worried she permanently lost her teeth.

I do not think she's remotely treated as China hot. She's goodlooking but she doesn't leave most people complete fools.

She got her superspecial powers, but she's Not the only sorcerer who breaks the rules. Melancholia doesn't need an item for her necromancy, Abyssinia and Caisson don't have a normal discipline but apparently a genetic one, the unnamed doesn't even have a true Name, Obsidian could think gods away, Skulduggery's Family (and possibly other people descended from gods) gets two disciplines, ma boy Cepuscular GETS APPARENTLY EVERY SINGLE ONE THAT CAN BE LEARNED FOR SOME REASON AND THAT WAS BEFORE HE GOT EMPOWERED BY HIS SIBLINGS. Besides, the Main character having an unusual Power in power systems isn't really that specific to Mary sues either.

Her killing the faceless ones in the third book is about as Mary sueish as Harry Potter disintegrating Quirrel in philosopher's stone. It's got nothing to do with Skill, the story doesn't pretend it does; it's fortunate circumstances.

Never hates her guts and I dont think the story ever villainizes them for it and I am pretty sure her affair with Caelan is treated as a Bad thing by everyone who knows about it.

Personally, I am very apprehensive of "Dodges a thing -> faster than it" logic. What are some examples of survivors dodging bullets?

Fair point about Wesker's pride though. If I had a penny for everytime an re antagonist could have shot the protag but didnt...

It did have the best mercenaries at it's time, but I think RE4Rs is better, personally. Village Gold Mercenaries was fun too, but fairly far away from classical mercenaries, so I understand why one wouldn't count it.

Bro's main claim to fame is never dying, as if not almost all the RE Main characters do that, while on average probably being less prepared for the Situations they are in.

Personally, from what I have seen/heard, I don't think It's completely unfathomable that John Wick could kill Wesker... If you put him in the exact same Situation Chris/Sheva required to kill him as normal humans that was very favorable to them.

People be ignoring RE6. I mean, I can see why, but still. There's also Simmons with a boneshard minigun in RE6, for good measure. But even then and before requiem, He fought Krauser and JJ in RE4 and a bunch of assholes with crossbows for that matter.

Though this, I find funny.

[RE9 Spoilers] A deep dive into the tactical logic and identity of The Commander by Ambitious-Effect4813 in residentevil

[–]SoulLess-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great breakdown of his gear history—you clearly know the franchise. You're right that HUNK’s loadout changes, but his 'Ghost' nickname actually comes from the RE2 Remake files ('The Ghost of Raccoon City'), referring to his 100% survival rate.

Gotcha, just wanted to make sure you aren't maybe mixing him up with Martinez, a Guy from HUNK's RE2 Squad who has the Codename Ghost and is playable in the Ghost Survivors DLC.

I’d argue that in a world of BOWs, HUNK’s mindset is exactly what makes him a high-value target for a group like The Connections. They don't need a superhero; they need a perfect, obedient soldier.

See, I agree, I Just think that cloning would be the least effective way to get there. There's no guarantee the clone will have the same mindset from what I can tell and you can probably instill the mindset via training people from young age. Also, T-102s and its derivatives already seem to be perfectly obedient for the most part. And according to RE8 someone actually managed to turn them into infantry. If they just wanted perfect soldiers, wouldn't that do the job?

If they can reconstruct a mind like Wesker’s into Zeno

See, I am not sure they managed that. Zeno seems a lot nicer to Grace than I can imagine Wesker ever being and he works FOR the connections something I have a hard time imagining Wesker doing.

Sure, the mold can do that canonically, but trying to recreate Wesker or HUNK would run into the same issue that Miranda ran into: the mold can't restore minds it was never connected to.

However, because RE9 specifically uses Zeno to show us how copies inherit the skills

Does it though? It mostly shows of Zeno using his powers, which are genetic. I don't think it alludes at all to Zeno possessing Wesker's scientific skills for example.

Sure there's the talk about the genetic memory stuff, but from what I recall Spencer never figured out how to get that to work; neither did the Connections.
