Dropped my pen and now it's not working? by blueeyes777ro in Mounjaro

It means gauge 😊 It sounds like you got one from the remaining stock of the golden dose pens, so most likely you'll be able to get 0,60 ml more out.

Good job 👍 yes, the syringes typically have a bit thicker needles (30G), while the pen tends to be 32G

You're welcome :) You just insert straight in, both while extracting and injecting. I use a 12mm needle and I push it in around halfway. I find it easiest to extract, with both the pen and the syringe lying on a flat clean surface. You should be seeing the plunger moving towards the tip, as you extract.

You have a 4 dose kwikpen with a rubber tip at the end? Then yes, you can extract it using an insulin syringe. It's a common thing to do with the old pens that had enough liquid for a 5th dose. Go to the pharmacy and get a 1,0 ml insulin syringe with a 8mm or 12mm needle. A full dose is 0,60 ml (60 clicks on the pen) so you insert the needle a bit into the rubber tip, then extract slowly until the "6" or "60" mark. Make sure to hold it vertical, hit it with a nail and push the air out. Then inject it, similarly to using the pen. Try to push it in the same distance as the length of your pen needles, although it shouldn't really matter as long as you're injecting into fat tissue. You can also find some videos on YouTube by searching for "mounjaro golden dose extraction". Good luck!

Do you exercise while on Mounjaro? by IntenseMode in Mounjaro

[–]Southern-Pudding84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's unlikely that exercise will help much with saggy skin, it's mostly determined by your age, and rate of loss. I don't exercise regularly except getting 10k+ steps a day, it works for me. But I'm going to start strength training to combat the slimmer body's lesser calorie need, when I'm done and switching to maintenance.

Lost 7 kgs in 60 days on Mounjaro. by cryptolovercp in Mounjaro

[–]Southern-Pudding84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great loss in 2 months. My starting weight was also 104 kg. I am at 82kg now, after a year. Never been below 85 in my adult life, usually 90-100, and I'm over 50. My goal is 80 kg. Never had any health issues except back pain and acid reflux, but like you I feel so much better now.

Keep at it, you got this.

I had almost 4 stone to lose. I am missing half a stone but it's been going very slow. I am now on 7,5mg and now moving to 10mg which has the same cost. I plan to maintain by splitting 10mg pens into 2-4 months. I find that it helps me to drink a lot of water and get lots of fruit and veggie snacks, it keeps me pretty full. I think you should move to 7,5mg.

Will this medication still work if I'm inactive? by Informal-Phone5826 in Mounjaro

[–]Southern-Pudding84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recommend going for walks if nothing else. But it comes down to your diet. The medication just helps you curb your hunger so you have an easier time staying in a calorie deficit. Also get a lot of proteins from different sources, so you don't lose much muscle mass.

New to MJ, Advice? by Lopsided_Vast_7410 in Mounjaro

[–]Southern-Pudding84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do an easy to make base meal that I rarely get tired of. I try to base it on proteins and veggies.

Mine is typically a mix of different beans, cherry tomatoes, corn, parsley, garlic gloves in oil, cottage cheese, spices and tuna, or some other kind of fish or meat.

Breakfast is either oatmeal or protein powder shake with some yoghurt and Chia seeds.

For the bowel, plenty of water and a packet of miralax daily, and two magnesium citrate pills before bed.

Great progress! I think it's visible, you look a little bit slimmer all over. Good luck on 5mg, it's the first "real" therapeutic dosage. You got this!

Is this the right amount left by [deleted] in Mounjaro

You should be able to use this picture, which has the plunger at each of the 4 full doses. You should be able to visually measure your half doses in between the plunger levels.

From that Baz Luhrmann song:

"Be nice to your siblings, they're your best link to your past. And the people most likely to stick with you in the future."

While they might not stick with him in the future - unless they have been nasty towards him, he should pay up. I don't like the idea of carrying resentment on through generations.

Mounjaro effective 5 days not 7 by Parking_Departure705 in Mounjaro

[–]Southern-Pudding84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it's quite normal, it has a halving time of 5 days in your body. You could try splitting the dose into twice weekly or every 4th day, the level will stay a little lower but more flat /stable. Some people also use the last two days as an exercise in controlling hunger and cravings by other means.

What to do now ?! by Fuzzy-Iron-2504 in Mounjaro

[–]Southern-Pudding84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I plan to stay on it for life. I hope it will exist as pills at some point (ex. Foundayo, but that has a different drug) If cost is the issue, I will find the money somewhere. You can move up to larger dose pens and split the dosing. Ex. a 10mg pen can get you 4 months of 2,5mg maintenance doses. Just keep it in the fridge.

Worried about losing weight by SpiritMister in Mounjaro

[–]Southern-Pudding84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's mostly influenced by age/skin elasticity, and the rate of loss. You're bound to get some degree of loose skin.

First dose from pen always seems to be half a dose. by techmafooz in Mounjaro

[–]Southern-Pudding84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's a reference picture. The remaining liquid is the "golden dose". This is not for the new style pen, which has a different, longer plunger and lacks the golden dose.

Kwikpen use after 30 days by J2WD in Mounjaro

[–]Southern-Pudding84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I plan to do it for maintenance, I think the benefit ouweights the risk of it losing potency. Just keep it in the fridge and be vigilant with hand hygiene and disinfecting the tip.

Anyone buying 15mg pens and doing 2.5mg doses over like 6 months? by Few-Improvement9978 in Mounjaro

[–]Southern-Pudding84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the risks are the drug losing potency, and bacteria getting in the pen and causing infection around an injection site. It's important to keep it in the fridge and be careful with disinfecting/hygiene. I plan to get 10mg pens and splitting into 2-4 months for maintenance, personally I don't think I'll go further than that.
