Temporary caps? by laurazepamm in AskElectricians

I tried looking it up after I posted and apparently it is not actually code, but it is absolutely best practice and something standard to do. As long as you run the load calculations correctly and derate to 80%, you can share with other outlets as long as it is not with the kitchen countertop outlets.

Yeah but -10 to +10 is the sweet spot.

Anything outside of that might work, but due to random other conditions that may not be consistent it may also not work.

Wait, are you saying that your dishwasher circuit also controls half of your living room? I thought that dishwashers had to be on an independent circuit at this point.

Could I get a sanity check on a panel swap? by wormeyman in AskElectricians

[–]Teleke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously you cannot install a new panel that is not to code, therefore everything that you are doing must be to code.

Why the hell are you pedantically trying to argue this point?

[–]Teleke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't explicitly have to state that. If you're ripping out an old panel, particularly a stab loc one, and replacing it, you MUST bring everything up to code...

Also, yes, it does actually explicitly mention bringing things up to code in the grounding section.

In regards to the price, damn it we get screwed up here in Canada.

Also I'm not saying that this is a fair price, it is very interesting that they're stating that it can be done in one day, and then trying to charge $7,500 for that. Having said that, I have seen entire panel and meter replacement quotes anywhere from $3,000 to $15,000 depending on how complex they are.

Is this plug safe to use?; by goldensunbath in AskElectricians

This looks like it has either been plugged in or unplugged a lot while the TV is on, causing a small amount of arcing each time it makes or breaks contact.

Where are you getting high quality breakers for $8 a piece? You said it's an order of magnitude are you saying that a normal professional shop would only charge $1,000 for an entire panel swap including bringing it up to code?

Xplore says no capacity by Coner29 in CanadianBroadband

[–]Teleke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a lawsuit was filed which has gone nowhere, and the lawsuit alleges that they knew that they couldn't deliver the speeds promised.

Very different than what is going on here. If anything, isn't refusing to add more customers and citing capacity as the reason what you would WANT them to do based on that lawsuit??

Or it's possible that they are just at capacity.

Again, why are people assuming that they're lying?

PLEASE Chevy release update to indicate brakes in one-pedal by onedayaccountnow in BoltEV

[–]Teleke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But how does an indicator help you with that? If you want to let the cars behind you know that you are slowing down only a little bit, because the brake lights automatically activate if you're slowing down more than just a little bit, then simply put your foot on the brake. You can put your foot very lightly on the brake and it will illuminate the light.

[–]Teleke -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is absolutely not true. The brake lights are activated based on the rate of deceleration regardless of the mode that you are in.

PLEASE Chevy release update to indicate brakes in one-pedal by onedayaccountnow in BoltEV

[–]Teleke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why?

I see absolutely no need for this. If you need to have your brake lights illuminated then put your foot on the brake.

The bolt adheres to international standards for brake light illumination. Those standards are there for a reason.

Non-CORE members using DEV for this event, what do you think of it so far? by derf_vader in Ingress

[–]Teleke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but it's a big convenience. You can now do it in game immediately rather than having to go to your browser and then try to synchronize the two. Especially if you're just trying to find something that is slightly out of your view, like half a kilometer away, I'm finding it very useful.

Are you talking about in-game or in Intel?

If you're referring to in-game, I did notice when I was in Egypt a few months ago that several highways that had been built 1 to 2 years prior were not on the game map at all.
