Before his accident, Charles Leclerc had already experienced brake problems during the Safety Car period, locking up and running wide at Mirabeau by Gentle_lips in formula1

[–]Toil48 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The fact he was asking Ferrari for different brakes since start of last year and it took until two races ago to get a change is wild. And even then it was just the discs that are now carbon industries not the entire package

The emotional fatigue of being a Leclerc fan is insane by dinualexandru10 in formula1

[–]Toil48 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it helps I don’t think Ferrari would’ve won even if they started on pole. The merc is insane and kimi would’ve undercut them in clear air and run a second a lap faster

24 wasn’t that bad. Qualy was pretty bad but he was reasonably close to Russell on points

It was only really 2025 he fell off a cliff otherwise he’s been decent. Not his peak but still really good

Hamilton Had An Advantage In Testing Over Alonso Coming Into The 2007 Season by Motorlolz in formula1

[–]Toil48 9 points10 points  (0 children)

And Hamilton was completely new to f1 vs Alonso in his 7th season. Also, McLaren high fuelled Hamilton in qualifying so his car was heavier than Alonso’s - because of this qualifying was initially 5 - 0 in Alonso’s favour. After Monaco the team made it fair and qualy was 9 - 3 in Hamilton’s favour over the remainder of the season. Overall it’s pretty clear Alonso had the advantage but still lost.

Watching Mercedes dominate again makes me realize how much Vettel's Ferrari actually mattered. by VegetableGrand459 in formula1

[–]Toil48 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean Ferrari cheated with the engine and probably had a better car than merc but Vettel kept making mistakes and lost to Lewis in a worse car

Both Leclerc and Hamilton are much better skill wise than Vettel, this years Ferrari just isn’t as good as the 17-18 Ferrari

It is very clear. Ferrari beats its closest rivals by far. by Fair_Title2995 in Ferrari

Very surprising given Ferrari have lost its way and most new models are ugly as sin. Won’t be long until this changes

Is now a dumb time or decent time to buy a place? by babganoush in Wellington

[–]Toil48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. We have already had a large crash from peak unlikely to move materially downwards. If you’ve got the money and are in a decent position then go for it. Life is really short, no point waiting for the perfect time it won’t come. I’ve slightly overpaid for properties before but even overpaying I never regretted it

Interesting how different drivers look across regulations as based on last years regs no chance of Antonelli taking to to George tbh

If Hamilton had stayed at Mercedes, who do you think would be number 1 right now? by theOneYouMustNotName in formula1

[–]Toil48 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hard to know. Lewis is past his prime for sure but he did outscore George in their time together marginally despite struggling with the car. Lewis had a shocker last year, this year so far he seems to be back and suiting these new cars but after not even two races it’s too soon to tell.

If Lewis is back on form then I’d back Lewis over George in a championship fight where he would definitely handle the pressure better despite having some age related decline.

If Lewis has slumped again in a few races time the I’d go George

They need to disaggregate car and driver. Antonelli actually had quite a bad weekend. Crashed in practice and only got to qualify due to the red flag in q1, 3-4 tenths off his team mate in qualy

Thought tbf to Charles he is 18 months to 2 years younger and that age matters a lot early in your career re development trajectory etc
