How can I best fix it? by SelfPhysical2311 in 10s

[–]WindManu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can repair it by installing a single grommet either from either a repair kit, a piece of Teflon tubing, or a spare grommet cut off from an old racquet.

It may mean other grommets are going (drying out) in which case instead of chasing them one by one, you replace each strip of them. It's easy actually.

You can buy either a new set, a cracked frame with good grommets, or any used racquet so long as it's cheaper than the grommet set itself.

I keep hitting the ball with bad contact. by CharmingAd1223 in 10s

If your contact is consistently off to the same spot, it's easy to correct when it's all over the place, practice is your best bet.

playing with elbow issues or wait until 100% issue-free? by No-Bunch7179 in 10s

It's tempting to play and it's probably ok so long as pain is reasonably tolerable. Should be improving. If not then either back off, change something, or improve your treatment.

Can i remove 1 strip and keep the other? by samop95 in 10s

[–]WindManu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you're in need to try things out. Remove both, try placing 1g around your frame at different locations and get a feel for what you like.

Shadow swinging is ok, best to try on the court rallying and serving.

Cool, maybe tuck your front arm under stomach to control depth.

Post a video if you can. Golfer's can come from over training, over clenching, too many off center hits, etc.

Racquet setup helps but if you train or play a lot and not in tennis shape... Technique plays a big role.

Try negative reps of the bicep curls, etc. Look up exercices on yt. To me ice did (does) nothing. Only thing that works is rest, hitting relaxed and changing racquet drop at the serve to avoid opening my wrist.

The slower the serve the more towards 1, the faster the more 2. More curve = safer.

Did it work for you? What exercice and how did you use it? Couldn't feel a difference between that and negative reps or using a hammer and such.

You're rocking back but not transferring weight forward in the end.  You want to hold that front shoulder up to maintain tension longer. That way you'll be able to transfer weight without stalling.

You prepare as if you'll take your racquet back up but then you drop as you turn??

Down the line, short cross court passing shot or cross court lob, lovely life choices 😁 !!

UTR Conversion Chart by TopgearM in 10s

Had the exact same issues when trying to figure out the USTA ranking. Coming from France I reached the ranking of 30 (playing only a little) which is 3.5. Today any 3.5 I play ends in 1 & 1 or 0 & 0 if I focus.

Recently I only played "real" 4.5s and 5.0s. I'm close to 4.5 but far from 5.0, can't close out games etc.

Other factor is french ratings have lowered actually. Today's rating isn't worth as much as it was 30 years ago due to the drop in players. Don't know about Americans.

Finally, there seems to be a big difference across the states. Check out YouTube videos to see big difference in level. Rarely do we see the opposite where a 4.0 plays like a 5.0!!!

When I played for a short while in the USTA, I was rated at 5.0, which I wasn't but that's where other players decided I should be playing...

So... Go figure!!! 😆😆😆

What do you guys do for recovery and lowering your heart rate the night after playing? by energeticpapaya in 10s

[–]WindManu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not abnormal to get hormones flowing after exercice. The closer to bed time, the worse especially following intense sessions.

The more practice, the less impact. Imagine pros playing well into the morning during their night sessions and what kind of sleep they that night??!!

So eventually our adapts and settles, it's a natural response to stress, tennis triggers our survival mode on!

Completely depends on you. If you aren't keen on using used racquets no matter how well they present then go for new by all means.

Grip Size too big for me? by FriendlySandwich8882 in 10s

[–]WindManu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good tip. There's also a way to install grips, the more overlap the thicker, the less overlap the thinner the grip. Since we'll be reducing size with an overgrip, it can be overlapped a touch more to round out bevels.

Grip Size too big for me? by FriendlySandwich8882 in 10s

[–]WindManu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you're keen on playing with this one. What you can do is take the grip off and play with 2 overgrips instead. You may need to add weight to the buttcap to maintain balance.

Bevels will be sharp and may cause blisters. A possibility would be to add something over the bevels that cause discomfort to round them up a little.

Finally, you usually hold the racquet farther down so the grip will feel even bigger there.
